Jarrett Guarantano

Wouldn't blame him given all of the crap Butch and Co. likely have sold him.

From what I have heard, he was sold on UT under the premise that he would be starting once Dobbs was out and Dormady likely transferring.

So he wants something given to him instead of earning it?
Awesome leadership potential

Let's be honest with ourselves, if not for Callaway making Dormady look good, we would have lost by 21 points and Gurantano would be the starting QB for the Indiana St game. Dormady should have had 3 picks last night and one pick six. Looked a little like Justin Worley to me. Hopefully he will improve but don't count Gurantano out just yet.

I like this "should had __ picks" better than all the picks and/or fumbles Worley and Dobbs shouldn't have had...but did.

The point is to see who is better. No one knew how QD would play in a real game. The answer was not well. JG could have came in and given a spark. Maybe not.

That wasn't a great time to answer that question. If UT was in control of the game early your point makes more sense.

I called for the switch before the half, just because we couldn't do crap. The thing is, if we are in control of the game, you really aren't going to see how JG is compared to QD. You are going to see him running mop up duty just like QD did last year. The only way to test them both and they both have a fair shake, is to make the switch when you need a spark and see if it happens. For the record I don't care which qb we use, as long as the offense is moving the ball and we win.

I don't call the shots. Haven't been on here screaming we should have made the switch either. I was only commenting on his post about how if the game was in hand. Just said I think we should have switched for a spark before half. Just like last year, we didn't know if QD could play when the lights are all on him and he's the number one. You won't know if JG can either if you put him in just to mop up after we are in the lead.

I don't care either. And sure didn't mind seeing JG getting some time if that's what they chose to do.

Until the OL figures it out both are gonna be playing under less than ideal situations. QD recovered well and played a role in the comeback and win.

Yeah I agree. I was only saying if they want to really test them both, to see who is better, they need to give them both a fair shot. You can't just get up big and then run the clean up crew offense and let the other qb go in and see how he does, because you really won't know.

Why should JG get different treatment than Dormady did the last two seasons? Apparently, the coaches evaluated the two and chose their starter. Now JG needs to fulfill his role until it's his turn to compete for the starting job just like Dormady did.

We just won a ball game and look what being a selfish SOB got Hurd. His future is the starting QB at UT if he doesn't screw things up like Hurd did. He will have two years or more if he earns it. Go play ball and quit being a whiney ***** or get the heck out of my locker room you little snowflake azzwipe.

Pretty much this. 2 years to start at UT is a guaranteed NFL contract if he is as good as advertised. Millionaire at 22 years old.

Or, keep being a beeyatch with terri le attitude and probably get passed on the depth chart. 3rd team qb has a live arm too...and dont we have another bluechip coming in for 18?? This is Peytons QB stable. Refocus or be replaced kid.

I bet McBride's stock and optimism has risen since last night.

Which is understandable. But the point could also be made that the circumstances to start the second half were a lot different than the first and they would have been in different situations still.

And you take rumor as fact. You have no idea what was said and why JG came to TN. Support your teammates no matter what.

No it was fact that Jones said you earn playing time yet he didnt even get a shot when Dormady wasn't even 50% on completions through 3 quarters. I have no clue if he wouldve been any better but neither does anyone else. Stay true to your word and don't lead your guys on. Same deal with Hurd. Yeah he f### up but dont tell me you wouldn't be pissed if you were promised an opportunity for playing time/ slight scheme change and it was just bs they tried to appease you with. Im happy we won but when your QB throws into double and triple coverage and and getting you're WRs tee'd off on every catch, there should definitely still be a competition for starting QB. I don't trust his decision making when Worley was starting over Dobbs for 6 games when it was painfully obvious who should've been playing. With that said, if Dormady plays consistent and earns the job with his play, Guarantano needs to man up and waot his turn. You all need to chill out lol. Just like trying to gain any info out of what we will look like the rest of the year by playing against a very difficult scheme. Cant look so much into stuff or you will always find something from nothing.

What would Al Wilson, a real leader, have done last night when the Vols score 14 unanswered, block a FG, win in double OT, and the backup QB sits motionless and emotionless on the sideline? Would have taken about 1 drive of that crap before Al was nose to nose with the kid telling him to get right, or get left. Do freshmen at UT have to live in the dorms for the entire first year? I would imagine that is standard. How could you live, work, play, eat etc with your brothers 24.7....and not be celebrating their TDs and forced turnovers? Just cant wrap my head around it. Hes a Vol though, and still a kid obviously. He will probably figure ot out.

Hurd was on pace to be our all tkme rushing leader with the current scheme tho, which i dont care for. He could have put his big boy pants on for 1 year, outrushed Henry,Lewis, Garner, Webb, etc etc and cashed the big check. Instead his atritude cost him many millions, and maybe a shot at the NFL...dumb dumb move. Real dumb.

The difference in your scenarios is whoever started last nights game would have been making their 1st collegiate start. QD sat behind a guy who had more than 1 full season under his belt as a starter.

I think QD played really good in the 2nd half and led this team back from being 0-1 but he was throwing off balance in the 1st half and looked very rattled. There would have been nothing wrong with Butch giving JG a shot after 3 consecutive 3 and outs. Let QD's nerves calm some and maybe JG woulda provided a spark.

None of it really maters now a W is a W but it woulda been nice to see the kid play

Good point! I agree..........

Because it is a COMPLETELY different scenario?

One was a guy that was not competing to start, sitting behind an upperclassman who was the returning starter and better player. This is a first time starter that was in a competition and struggled in the game.

This isn't pre school. You don't just wait your turn and earn it by virtue of being here longer. If QD establishes himself and performs well he should start every game. He hasn't so far.

Maybe he should have replaced the WR's who for some reason were struggling to catch passes during those 3 and outs.

QD did not look rattled. He did look nervous, but not rattled. That is to be expected. First game as a starter knowing that a lot of the fans wanted the other guy to start and were looking for an excuse to throw him under the bus, knowing that he was following a record setting QB at Tennessee - a rattled QB to me is throwing interceptions, taking sacks, fumbling, etc.
