Charlotttesville's mayor tweeted that the riots were fomented by Trump's race-baiting during the campaign, stoking tensions. This isn't the whole story, but I think there is a lot of truth in this. I don't think Trump is a racist, but I do think he took a political strategy to gain support too far. The alt-right thinks they have reason to come out of the shadows since he won, like some sort of sick justification for their horrific thoughts and actions. This is only the beginning of the resurgence of neo-Nazis. Like any terrorist, they will get more violent to prove their sick platform.

They are scum of the Earth, and have no place in civilized society. They are traitors to liberty.

On this we agree. I've never been a fan of BLM. I agree with the principle behind it's formation, but I don't approve of some of the tactics used during protest.

This was a peaceful protest until the opposition showed up. You know how you get the neo-Nazis to grow in numbers? You do what the dumbass counter-protesters did yesterday. You try and stifle their free speech and first amendment rights.

You know what the real Nazis want? They want these statues to be torn down. It helps their movement. Instead on focusing on and rooting out actual racism, the left goes after historical objects and symbols. Things MANY people don't have a problem with and if anything support.

The general tone of his rallies. "Us vs. them", his comments about immigrants and Muslims, roughing up protesters at his rallies, taking back "our" America, there is a long list.

I'm not saying this is Trump's fault in totality, but his political strategy did affect the discourse. Also, his lack of denouncing white supremacists specifically, instead making a blanket statement about violence, is telling.

Between racist white people and racist black people who protest? The media encourages and supports racist blacks . They don't do that for white racists.

It's disturbing that Trump won't explicitly say he condemns the white supremacists. This mealy mouthed "all sides" thing just looks like he's trying not to offend the white supremacists that voted for him. David Duke and other white supremacists have said he needs to continue to back them because they are who got him into office.

I mean, he could say he condemns white supremacists and then also say he condemns counter proestors that resort to violence. Why not just say that?

I never said they shouldn't have the right to protest, I said quite the opposite in an earlier post in this thread.

Same as counter-protesters absolutely have the right, and frankly patriotic duty, to protest against these pathetic cowards that hide their faces behind bedsheets.

Having been on the receiving end of those snap judgements, I try not to do the same to others. Let's blow up some stereotypes. I'm a retired female tattoo artist that loves bikes, weapons and football. I realized long ago that I'm a bit of an oddity to society's norms, but I doubt wearing the Mensa membership card on a lanyard around my neck would change much.

Our society sees with a closed mind and until that changes nothing else will. Stereotyping is killing our country and your percentages need to be reversed in order for true forward progress to be achieved.

From my peanut gallery seats, I see a war brewing. Using bull crap rhetoric and stereotyping, our politicians and the media are stirring the pot towards a cultural implosion. Unfortunately, everyone is to pissed off by it all to see the path they are being herded down by both sides of the political isle. I've sadly reached the point where I stay locked and loaded and just hope the revolution waits until after football season. GBO!

I see no problem with white supremacists or black supremacists per se, so long as they don't tear up stuff and hurt people. They all have a right to their opinion.

When in a thread about my side's issues, I would. But this is a thread about neo-Nazis, the alt-right, and the KKK. We should all be ashamed of yesterday, regardless of political affiliation. It makes me sick, as a Southern White male millennial, that those cowards hiding behind their bedsheets still have a presence in Southern culture. They have a right to speech, but that doesn't make them any less wrong. You think they'd die off eventually, but they keep coming back.

Terrorists and traitors, every last one.
