So when do we start tearing down monuments in D.C.? After all, both Washington and Jefferson were slave owners.
You can't erase history. All of these Confederate monuments being removed or destroyed, that's what they're attempting to do. Honestly, a monument only has the power you give it. Maybe some see these monuments and think they commemorate heroes. When I see them, I'm reminded of a very dark time in our country's history. They don't represent goodness(to me), they represent sadness, and ignorance. A time when our nation was divided like no other time before. And now we're reliving it as groups fight each other over something so trivial. Perhaps we do need these monuments to remain, just to remind us where this kind of violence leads. It's just sad to me that skin color is still such a decisive issue in today's world. And skin color is what all of this boils down to. People are people. Skin color shouldn't mean a damn thing.
No outrage on the board, like when black protestors riot?
Odd.
Funny thing is, I'm watching this and there are surely some broken bones. Wonder if they get mad when the black or Hispanic or Asian doctor sets the break and takes care of them?
I would say "over-the-top defensive" is "Yeah, these white nationalists are destroying stuff, but it's probably the libs' fault." Lol
Trump supports these thugs. If he didn't he would have condemned their actions. These thugs hate America. They were raised wrong. White lives matter? All lives matter!
Yes, Lee was a good man. Lincoln wanted to free the slaves and have them shipped to South America. But history tells us a different story about both men.
Which group had a legal permit to hold a rally, and exercise their 1st Amendment right , and which group decided to protest their right to protest? I'm thinking that all of this could have been avoided if the statues were left to remain where they have been for the last 100 years. So is Fox. I watched this morning and every thirty seconds they repeated the Mantra that the counter protesters are all being bussed in, as though that was the cause of the violence
Tell me. I would assume it's part of the movement across the country to eliminate such monuments, or to move them to more appropriate locations.

Where'd tums' other post go? I didn't think it was that bad.
I do think it's an interesting approach to just use whatever outdated insult you feel like using, then call anyone who expresses disapproval a "sissy." I would say to try that with the n word in a black neighborhood and let me know what happens
