D4H's 2017 NFL Draft Review (Best Picks, Best Drafts, and Predictions)

Josh Dobbs played about as good as was humanely possible that game given the circumstances. He only missed one throw (the one down the sideline to Josh Smith) that was a hard throw but he still should have made it cause it was big play. Other than that, he suffered from drops, offensive line breakdowns, and lack of separation by his receivers.

That's what makes the performance so amazing. A drop back passer would have had no chance in that game. The Tennessee offensive line was getting punked by Florida's d-line on every snap. Just go back and watch the first few pass attempts and how Dobbs was nearly decapitated by the Florida pass rush. Tennessee wisely gave up on the passing game early when they realized that the offensive line had no chance in blocking the Florida pass rush. Florida's DBs were also playing bump n run so there was no chance for the quick short passing game. The only way Tennessee could move that ball that game was through the read option QB run game cause it was the only way to slow the Florida pass rush.

And that is exactly what Dobbs did. He won the game against Florida with his legs. And if not him, it was Jalen Hurd getting the handoff cause the entire defense was focused on Josh. Go back and watch the tape. This was BY FAR the best performance of Josh Dobbs career at Tennessee. Put any other QB behind that line in that game against that defense and they look like Peterman in the Swamp in 2013.

but it was the coaches fault....

The Top 100 NFL Players of 2017 concluded a week ago and 4 rookies from the 2016 NFL Draft made the list: Ezekeil Elliott, Dak Prescott, Tyreek Hill, and Joey Bosa. The 2017 NFL Draft is significantly more talented than the last few drafts so I expect a higher number of first year players to make the list next year compared to the last few.

Here's my prediction of which rookies from this year's draft will make the NFL Top 100 players of 2018:

1. QB Joshua Dobbs (Steelers) - he'll have a Dak Prescott like season taking over for an injured Ben Roethlisberger; look for him to lead the Steelers to at least the AFC Championship game.

2. WR Corey Davis (Titans) - he'll have an Ezekiel Elliott type season at the wide receiver position; look for him to be among the league leaders in every receiving category and to be mentioned as one of the best receivers in the league.

3. S Marcus Williams (Saints) - best deep field safety in this year's draft (yes even better than Malik Hooker) and one of the best deep field safeties to enter the league in a long time; I think he gets a lot of INTs this year and leads what should be an improved Saints defense.

4. CB Cam Sutton (Steelers) - will establish himself as a shut down corner from day one; teams will learn real quick to avoid throwing it to his side like they did with Darrelle Revis.

5. RB Alvin Kamara (Saints) - do it all offensive weapon that is perfectly made for Sean Payton's offense; look for him to have a season like Tyreek Hill had last year where he's utilized as a runner, receiver, and returner.

6. LB Haason Reddick (Cardinals) - my favorite to be defensive rookie of the year; he'll collect a ton of tackles, get around 8-10 sacks, and grab a few INTs on what should be an elite defense.

7. DE Myles Garrett (Browns) - he'll have an okay year statistically (6-8 sacks) but his play on tape will be more dominant; that's how he will get his peers respect and end up on the list.

There's a petition going around the league from the NFLPA to let Dobbs be all time qb for every team in the interest to fairness of all teams not called the Steelers.

Dobbs isnt the backup in Pittsburgh.

Dobbs isnt the backup in Pittsburgh.

Training camp hasn't even started yet let alone preseason games. By the time we get through camp there will be no doubt that Dobbs is at worst the second best QB on the roster.

Dobbs will start this year for the Steelers if Big Ben goes down. And he'll play extremely well.

I just hope the Steelers dont sign some re tread like Kapernick or Cutler as a backup -- give Dobbs the shot not some career journeyman

They like Landry Jones (even if some VN Steeler fans don't). They resigned him before the draft. They aren't signing anyone else, but, as with everything, D4H is delusional in thinking Dobbs will pass him this season on the depth chart. If Big Ben goes down, it will then take a couple of awful performances by Jones for Dobbs to see any significant playing time.

Signing your current backup is simply hedging your bets. They go into training camp with Jones as the intended backup...that can be lost. Performance in preseason games will be important.

I dont know much about Jones, but imo he wasnt that great at Oklahoma and seemed prone to injury - Dobbs biggest asset was his running and it will be a whole new game against NFL defenses, it wont be as easy as college ball for him. Lets just say if BR goes down the Steelers are in trouble

As most NFL teams are with their starting qb

Don't make D4H have to choose between Kap and Dobbs, it would be like season finale of the bachelor.

There's a lot of talent on that team. A competent QB should still be able to win games. Dobbs is more than competent. With that stellar supporting cast, he'll shine like Dak Prescott did last year.

You don't have a damn clue yet if Dobbs is "competent" or not on the NFL level. You're just doubling down on this because again, it's all you have left.

The worst kind of idiot is the one that's convinced himself that he's in fact the smartest guy in the room.

That's you. No, not the smartest guy in the room.

We'll find out soon enough. All I'll say is there isn't a football player I've ever been more confident in than Josh Dobbs.

He'll be amazing in the NFL.
