Butch being killed on here for losing to SC and Vandy with a depleted roster. Fuente got blown out by Syracuse (Syracuse!) fahr Butch and hire Fuente!

Please be specific with whom you're responding to because I like Fuente and have never called for Jones to be fired.

I'm not calling for that. I believe the consensus is that if Butch fails and Fuente continues to do well at Va Tech the next year or 2 then Fuente would be a good replacement. One that UT could possibly get.

I wouldn't pay more for him than what we currently pay Jones, and I'm not sure that would be enough to pull him away from Va Tech after just year 2. The only realistic options I see out there worth paying >$5 million right off the bat for are Chris Peterson or Chip Kelly. If Jones loses 5+ and we can pull one of those guys, I'd hope Currie would pull the trigger.

I like Greg Schiano's resume. Wonder why no one has snatched him up as HC yet?

Again, not saying to fire Butch. But I do think Fuente is a better coach, and think it would be a positive change.

Again, this is playing the hypothetical "Who would be better?" game that the pumps love to play.

To me, Fuente would be better.

If Currie is willing to break the bank, then Peterson would be the home run hire. If not then guys like Fuente would be somewhat worthy alternatives.

Not calling anyone out specifically. Lot of people wanting Fuente tho and some saying they would take Fuente today. I'm just saying, Butch hasn't lost to a team like Syracuse for crying out loud, he smoked Fuente head to head, and he's a much better recruiter than Fuente it appears, and yet people are thinking he's better. Why? What's he done? That one win over Ole Miss enough to impress y'all? He won his division? Okay, terrible division. He didn't beat anybody any good to do it. He lost to Ga Tech! How will y'all feel if we lose to Ga tech come September? But you want Fuente? 🤔

Did he get out coached or did Muschaml have a superior roster two of three years? As I recall, Worley was our QB and hey had multiple draft picks on defense. Last year we were missing 19 players due to injury and Dobbs played terrible. Wouldn't call that being out coached. That game is more on Dobbs than CBJ

Tennessee losing to Vanderbilt is worse than VT losing to Syracuse. Don't ever forget that.

I think the recruiting comparison is unfair. I don't believe Butch was considered a great recruiter while at Cincinnati. But put the Power T behind a motivated coach and look what happens. Much easier to recruit to TN than Cincy. As it would be over Va Tech.

If I recall the 2014 game in Knoxville was one UT led almost the entire game. Florida puts Treon Harris in a QB and he leads them on a game winning drive. Vols should've won that day. The next year in Gainesville as well but gave up the huge td play on what was 4th and forever I believe.

Syracuse is literally one of the worst teams in football. It isn't worse, not even close. And again, Butch had a bunch of injuries. VT was healthy. They got blown out by Syracuse. Blown out. Be careful what you wish for

And the 2013 team lost to Georgia Southern. Not saying that we should have gone in to Gainesville and win that year, but a I-AA team did.

Muschamp didn't coach that game in Gainesville in 2015. If you recall in 2014, Worley threw the game losing int. Worley was terrible and Muschamp had a significantly better defensive roster than we did for that game.

If Butch got canned then yes I would want Fuente depending on options. The SEC east is no stronger than ACC coastal. The Vandy and USCe losses were just as bad if not worse than Syracuse.

I hope Butch succeeds and think we will be better than being predicted. If the QB play is good and the play calling is decent then I think Tennessee has a great shot at the east.

Knew my memory would get me sooner or later. Point is Butch should not be 0-3 against Muschamp. Also 2-2 vs Vandy is cringeworthy. Again, I like Butch and believe an 8-4 regular season with another bowl win should warrant him another season. Especially if a QB emerges. Then ALL eyes are on the 2018 season. I don't know if 8 wins would save him after that.
