Reflection on VolNation and Fandom

i do. it does get old, even as a more than willing participant in more than my fair share of butch bashing....i can acknowledge that.

i was thinking about JP's analogy, though in a different sense. if i were in a bar, who would i want to do what we do here, in person, watching/discussing football?

not sure about the whole fascist thing JP is trying to push.....no thinking, conform, unite, communism needs you!!!.....:)

There are a few I would for different reasons. Long list for just sitting down having a good time with. Also, I would love to sit down at a high top in a restaurant bar with BeardedVol.

I reckon I'm older than most on VN. Six decades are already in my rear view mirror, and I'm rolling through the seventh. I witnessed the Artful Dodger live and in person during my matriculation at UT. Back then, fans would send moving vans to Bill Battle's house. Imagine the impact to his family...

I've seen a helluva lot since then, glorious victories on the gridiron, ignominious defeats, great coaching, wretched coaching, Vols fans working together in the rain to push a visiting Bammer family's car off the shoulder and back onto the pavement, a purported Tennessee fan (wasn't wearing a scrap of orange) angrily shoving my wife for being halfway into the stadium aisle (she was allowing someone seated in the middle of the row to make their exit before returning to her seat)... Mostly, I recall the innumerable acts of generosity, good will, and displays of good humor which identify Vols fans wherever they may be gathered together. This has been our general group character.

Experience has lengthened my view, tempered my perspective, and deepened my fandom. I know when to indulge in flights of fantasy and how to fully enjoy these as well as when and how to face the cold, hard truth. I've been on the path for awhile, and I'm a more enlightened fan.

I get the OP. I get the impatient whippersnappers barking all over the threads. I get the negavols letting the air out of the raft, and I get the pumpers putting the raft into the river expecting nothing but blue skies and gentle breezes. It's all in perspective for me. Now, when you're ready to take a breath and offer me a refreshing beverage, I'll be genuinely appreciative. GBO.

Amen. Just, amen.

lol. yeah, there's probably a dozen or so that i think would be fun to hang out with and just listen to the crap being thrown.

can't say all 12 or so would get along w/each other, but on entertainment value alone for me....worth it.

"for years", huh.

Yea, I caught that in one of his posts last week about everyone here being crazy over Kiffin. Me and JP talked about it.

Definitely been here before under another name, just not sure if it was Igains or Iathens.

I heard Saban tortures small animals. :) He has ME on ignore...not vice-versa.

Yes I know, and somehow, he knows when the word Saban is typed in by someone -- even an ignored poster of his like yourself and I would guess he is obsessed enough about Saban to take off the ignore and check what is said

I get it(I think), it's okay to be a nega or a pumper but don't be an a**hat to fellow vol fans if you disagree. State your opinion or debate it in a civilized way to each other. It should not devolve into personal attacks.
As for other fans, some have been here for a while and are pretty much known. It's the new ones that come on here starting crap that needs to be put in their place by all of us.
If I'm wrong, go ahead and correct me. Some will anyway but we can discuss it like adults and not 3rd graders.
