Kiffin on if Butch's program is in the right direction

Time has shown Kiffin was not as bad as Dooley and Butch should be appreciated more than he is currently received.

In one year he had a winning season of seven wins coming into a program that just had five wins the season before!

He used what he had to pull in a higher recruiting class than any the previous decade.

The entire program was rejuvinated. If you remember, it was at an all time low. Well, since Battle any way.

I don't know if you're single and into dating dudes, but if you are there is a poster on here who you should talk to. Username is SGM . I think you guys could really hit it off reminiscing about Kiffin. It could be a thing.

So who's a better HC? Kiffin or Butch?
Butch is the better head coach no question. Kiffin has been ran out of town in most of his coaching stops. Kiffin is a better offensive mind IMO but that's about it. Despite Butch's shortcomings and there's plenty of them, he's the better representative of the coaching profession.

Just remember, (ALL) of you guys went nuts over hiring him! Then (ALL) of you guys went nuts when he left!

When he got hired, all I knew was he wasn't Chris Petersen. And when he left, I hoped the next incoming plane had Chris Petersen. If Butch gets fired, I will hope an offer is made for Chris Petersen again.

And if we get him, then I will go nuts. But I never went nuts over Kiffin. That POS never was worth it.

Why is it so hard for people to accept Butch Jones and all the good that he brings to the table after what Dooley left behind? You can't hate on Kiffin for chasing his dream job at USC and why he left.

There is no question that Kiffin's offenses were extremely productive at both USC and Alabama. A question most certainly can be raised, however, as to just how much credit Kiffin personally deserves for that. Before Saban began to routinely land the top recruiting class in the country, Carroll was doing almost every bit as well on that front at USC. In both cases, Kiffin had an embarrassment of riches to work with at every offensive position.

So, by that logic should Kiffin have beaten Bama in '09?

Yes.

It was strange looking for the ball to go thru the uprights from a hard angle, when it didn't come flying thru the air at all, I was confused.

Who knew they could block another FG?

1. Wasn't thrilled with his hiring, only supported him once he became our coach, had no choice, wanted the team to succeed. He was a failed NFL coach with no college head coaching experience. The hiring was beyond a reach.

2. Only "went nuts" over how and in the the utterly classless way he left....made worse by some of the details, including him telling new players like Bray to not go to class at Tennessee so the possibility they could transfer to USC was in play.

Some, like me, feel this way about Butch. Am I loyal to Butch over the program?

When someone constantly downplays the Fulmer (wins) and Jones (rebuild) accomplishments, while simultaneously hyping what Kiffin has done as a head coach, it tells me 2 things.

1. Wouldn't want to be stuck on a long voyage with that person.

2. If I were to be and the ship was sinking, no way in hell that person is designated for reading the instructions on the life raft.

He was Saban's beeotch and then Saban scorned him. So this is his way of getting back at ole Nikki by pumping up Tennessee.

I doubt it. I think Kiffin likes TN and sometimes has regrets that he left. He'd probably be competing for the SEC title every year had he stayed (unless he got the program in trouble). Is he sleazy? Yes, but then again most college football coaches are. It's a very dirty business.

iirc, Petersen will only coach out west due to something about his wife. Maybe a certain treatment. Why he stayed at Boise State for a while despite being a hot name.

Now I may be 100% wrong on this but I could have sworn I read that not too long ago

I loath people who abandon their responsibilities and commitments... to selfishly pursue their "dream".

Jones has done a lot of good. Few refuse to accept that. What we see is that imbedded in that good are patterns and trends that have held the program back and will prevent his success if they continue. He brings "good" to the table but is that the expectation or do we expect championships?

If effort or doing some things very well were all it took to win at the highest levels of CFB then Jones would be more than worthy of greatness. Unfortunately, success depends on other things like talent, decision-making, game day coaching, etc. That's why some of us doubt Jones.

Doubting Jones is one thing, but some people ^^^^ repeat the same talking points trashing Jones over and over. Jones has earned some doubt, but if he hasn't also earned a little goodwill then I'd say some people are too hard to please. But, go ahead and make excuses for Kiffin. He definitely gave his all for Tennessee.

He's a northwest guy. Prolly came out in his interviews with USC hence Sarkisian and Helton landing that job. Thought there was a factor with one of his kids in staying out west. He's at his dream destination imo.

They are valid points.

Can you argue a defense of those points?
