.....other than being an AD in same conference that Stoops coached in. Not that we are looking for a new Head coach. I understand that AD's always have a list of possible replacement coaches in their back pocket.....just in case.

His brother has done well in SEC. Saban has put other SEC programs into psyco mode.
Taking nothing away from Bob Stoops, but when coaches like CMR and Les are run out of town, I am not so sure he'd do any better than others.

I thought it was unethical for doctors to prescribe their own medications.

Bob Stoops was Mark Richt before Richt was Richt. He won a NC true enough, with another guy's recruits. Since then he languishes as OU meanders in mediocrity. OU is much like UT, storied program, always in the conversation, hyper fanbase, plenty of money, talent on the field, and Stoops can't get it done, so we would want him why again????

Good ADs do that. So do all good managers. Please refer to Hamilton/Dooley for what a pi$$ poor AD does when there is no plan.

Currie would have to have a very long list if it included Stoops.

He "languishes" and "OU meanders in mediocrity"??

Since he won the national championship in 2000, Stoops was 170-43, with 10 top 10 finishes in 16 seasons. He was also in the national title game in 2003 and in the College Football Playoff two seasons ago. How was that "languishing " and "meandering in mediocrity"? I don't get it.

On a side note, I think there's more to this Stoops retiring thing. The more I think about it, I wonder if there's more to this Joe Mixon story. After all, Stoops did recuit him. Something just seems fishy about this whole situation.

KB likely this is where you and I will likely never come to an agreement like your Chubb fixation. Your numbers speak for themselves, 1 NC in 16 years. Nobody at UT, Bama, LSU, or UF will be allowed to horse axx around for 16 years with one NC on their resume I submit.

Alot of ya'll are making sense. Can't quote everyone.

Except the Mixon thing. Has nothing to do with it.

Stoops won 10 BIG 12 titles in 18 years.

If we had a coach duplicate the same feat, he'd have a lifetime contract, a statue erected outside the stadium, Cumberland Blvd would be renamed in his honor, and Neyland stadium possibly renamed as well.

But Stoops was horse-azzing around? :salute:

Totally agree. Coaches don't retire in June, it's weird.

Look it's perspective. There is only ONE championship that counts every year unless you're one of those Richt type guys that point to conference championships or division championships. I totally get that. The NC is what everybody should be taking the field for and IMO no coach at a big time D1 school of which UT is one should be the HC >10 years if they can't get a NC. Stoops hasn't had one in greater than that, he's Richt 2.0 to me. We let Fulmer go with one NC on his resume because he was not close and seemed nowhere near gaining another one, that was a good decision at the time IMO. The use by date on CBJ is ticking for him to have my support even where he to win say the SECE for 3 straight years. If you're not in first place or THE champion you're first loser or less, plain and simple. Perspective again other people labeling people great is often just my good so I get it, hence KB says Chubb is great I say Chubb is good.

Not one bit of that applies to Stoops, who is still on top of the game. And never hasn't been....ever.

Stoops is a great coach. If he chose to continue coaching in 2017 he we be a top five coach easy if not top three. Nice try.

National Championships are a secondary goal here, and pretty much anywhere. The goal here is, and always has been, competing for the SEC Championship, which now starts with winning your division. Playoff, and Natty discussion comes after achieving those goals.

Nobody, with any football sense, starts the year with that expectation. Nobody lays that expectation on Butch as a requirement for continued employment. Please don't suggest anything like that. It's always the SEC....because if you get there you're in the discussion.

As such Stoops resume is more than adequate. I don't think it'll happen, but he'd be one of the most qualified applicants we could possibly interview if the opportunity arose.
