Win/ Loss comparison

Well, I guess it will stop being brought up when/if he improves upon it.

Maybe at that time people will stop blaming Dooley for CBJ's shortcomings, and stop trying to compare him to Dabo Swinney and Nick Saban. Probably not, but we can both hope and dream right? :good!:

You're hoping and dreaming for the wrong things, brother.

As a Vols fan, it would be far better for you to hope and dream that Butch gets it all lined up this year and we win the division, maybe even take a good shot at the conference.

That's what Vols fans hope and dream for, not for people in the internet to agree with them while they hatin'.

Hoping and dreaming for that since 2013; is 2017 finally going to be Our Year™?

As defined by winning the East? Nope.

I'd love to see it happen, but Butch is going to have to do something he hasn't done in his time at Tennessee (overachieve) in order to do so.

My dream: Win east and beat Bama twice in the same year.

Maybe not this season. We need to land a few blue chippers. Gotta admit, we have much better personnel than when Butch arrived. Enough coaching changes in effect for this season to think it might actually make CBJ's coaching look better.

Dobbs accuracy and Hurd predictably up the middle on first down was getting a little old. New blood at QB and OC might just shake things up a bit.

and that's all i'm saying.

all that's there is an opportunity. same as the last two years.

he will or he won't. i've said it many times, i'd of fired him after the vandy game last season...like immediately.

but i'm not that guy. so as long as he's here, i want him to do well. doesn't mean i excuse what's happened, or don't find faults....and flaws.

as for the comparison to Saban or Dabo or Dooley for that matter...i just don't care. what he does, or doesn't do, will stand on its own merit, and he'll either have this job for a long time, or Currie gets to make some pretty strong decisions in the relative near future.

what we have going on now is just a cling to the past, good and bad, and seemingly no one, save a few, is willing to even consider the possibility that it might get, aghast, better.

we all know, for the most part anyway, what the track record is, and how that can translate to future performance. that doesn't mean it's written in stone.

so, we wait and see if the changes that have been made pan out or not.

the back and forth about this is stale. everyone knows where everyone stands on CBJ.

nobody knows what's GOING to happen next. so, to your last point, yes, i'm hoping and dreaming. but, maybe it won't wind up a nightmare this time...if it does, then we get to revisit the potential action i would have taken after the vandy game last year..

yep. after that vandy game...definitely. i find it very difficult to defend Butch Jones, the head coach. his track record up to this point doesn't say "i'm a championship caliber HC in the SEC". and i'm not sure he will be.

but i see nothing productive in the constant dredging up of all the past failures. and i see nothing productive in comparing him to any other head coach, here, or anywhere else. it's his program now, and it'll be judged on its own.

and he's not going to get fired anytime soon, so, what i've decided to do is simply try to see what path is there for him to succeed from this point forward.

i want him to be successful, cause presently, that'd be best for our program. if he can't do that, then the next best case for our program is to move on and see if we can find someone better. but we're not there right now.

so look forward....and see what happens.

I agree, but I don't think it would've been smart to fire him last year.

I agree, which is why I'd can him this year if he wins 7 or less. Given the schedule and our returning starters, I think he should expected to win 8 games.

it's probably good that i'm not in charge.:)

all things being equal, it wouldn't have been smart.

lame duck ad, new chancellor etc...instability administratively certainly played a factor. had we been more stable at the top, i'm not certain that he wouldn't have been fired last year. speculation on my part.

anywho, as i said....looking forward.

I've commented several times, if he doest at least win the East this year, I'm ready to replace him.I wouldn't have fired him last year mainly because of the whole AD and Chancellor situation.

fair, and ultimately, i think that played a pretty big factor.

Are there more sides than I hate Butch or I love Butch?
The longer this drags on and the more grief I endure from posters who won't see the light, it's going to make me not hate Jones but be a real overly gleeful ass once he finally gets the axe. It's a character flaw and I'll try to work on it but I feel like there have been too many unwarranted personal insults. Like Eric Cartman, I will sate my thirst on the tears of the Butch lovers and then we can all be pals.

For about an hour after the 15 Florida game, I wanted him tortured. So yea, I don't need to be in charge either. At least we can admit where we might be wrong.

And I can't wait for season.
