Keeping up with the transfers

They've lost a bunch of guys haven't they, and aren't bringing in anyone of note?? Also a good chance Dedric Lawson heads to the NBA, not a great start for Tubby.

Yea, the natives are going to get restless. I think it was the paper's beat writer who guessed that only 1 of 3 would be back of Dedric Lawson, KJ Lawson, and Markel Crawford.

Gary Parish then said that he got a text from an assistant coach at another school asking him what Memphis was doing. Memphis coaches were apparently scouting at the JUCO national tournament, and they were looking at a guy that doesn't even start on his JUCO team. Next year could be worse for them.

Look I just never was impressed with him. Looked like just an average player to me. Nowhere near the caliber of JP. Not sure why you wanted to bring him into this.

You are right though he could have been used here for sure. Would loved to have seen him playing over Derek Reese. Or we could have just found another guy of the same caliber after he left.

I think you are missing the comparison he's trying to make. Davis is a lot like JP in that he was signed to play a position, transferred and ended up playing a different position/role, and has averaged similar numbers in that new role at a new program.

Both are similarly sized as well. Davis just has slightly better numbers, but against inferior competition. JP might be more athletically gifted, but your affinity for him probably clouds your judgement as to the reality of his actual basketball skills.

Dude, if you think AJ Davis is the same caliber of college basketball player as JP Prince then we can just stop right now.

He brought JP into it because of my avatar.

JP was a difference maker on some really good teams.

Good grief, where did I say they were the same caliber player? I simply explained that their career paths have some similar parallels, which is the point I think TGO was trying to make.

Your above response is just confirmation that you are irrationally emotional about the guy. I wasn't chastising you, rather, I was trying to explain my understanding of TGO's comparison. Your reaction was as if I said JP couldn't hold Steven Pearl's jock or something.

We don't see eye to eye as it relates to the exploits of JP Prince. You see a top-10 all-time player at Tennessee (slight exaggeration) while I see an extremely athletic, though limited skill player who made his mark using hustle and athleticism. We aren't likely going to find common ground on the issue.

I see Prince the same way as you. I don't think that Thunder was going for that but it doesn't really matter. I've explained my stance on AJ in this thread already. Yeah we could have used him. But we could have just done a better job at hiring coaches and recruiting and we could have replaced him a lot sooner cause there's lots of guys like AJ Davis out there.

We need to get this updated

Not too much to add unless Mostella, Parker, and/or Phillips have picked a school or Willie gets another chance somewhere. Added SP and KP with their stats links though.

Thompson isn't officially heading to Missouri yet is he?

Interesting.. Saulsberry is creating something special at WKU. Haha at least McGhee and Thompson will have some conversation starters now.

It's really strange that two of my favorite Vols each turned in their VFL card and hook up years later as teammates in Kentucky. It's early though... the season is still 5 or 6 months away.

Even on those teams, I'm surprised those two stuck out as your favorites. Not dogging you. Just not the choices I expected.

I'd have to look back at the rosters. I like point guards that are good passers and guys in the paint that hustle and run the floor (among other things... like shooting and cutting to the hoop). Fulkerson was my favorite last year until be went down. Then Bowden probably became my favorite in 2017.

Really didn't see enough of Thompson... but as a freshman I really liked his ball handling. No look passes. Bounce passes. Reminded me of Magic.

I really liked McGhee's motor. Fulkerson has that too... maybe even more so.
