UT gets their bowl rings

The team got their MC bowl rings - looks pretty sweet!!!

Edit: I put this picture us because I thought it looked cool. Any true fan would be thrilled to own one.

It's too bad many Vol fans here can't enjoy what is a small reward for the players (who worked their tails off over the course of a long grueling year), for the success they were able to achieve.

That's a nice ring, but rings should be reserved for conference championships at the minimum, imho.

I think that's the issue with me. When every bowl game or special event is called a championship it devalues "championships". So how many "championships" are there now in college football? Let's see:

Divisional winners -2 from each conference that plays a CG
Conference winners- Legit IMO
Bowl game winners- How many bowl games are there?
Special Events such as B.O.B.- Seriously?

So there are 60+ championships in Div. 1 A college football?

The word before "CHAMPIONSHIP" is what gives it value. East, SEC, and National of course add more value than Music City Bowl. But that does not lessen the fact that there is a champion crowned every year by the Music City Bowl and they call it a CHAMPIONSHIP because that is what it is. And that Champion is the Tennessee Volunteers!

Purchasing bowl rings is optional, and UT pays for them. SEC bowl distribution $$ covers the cost.

Tennessee’s football program spent a whopping $37,193 on 164 “Music City Bowl Champions” rings in April as part of an order that also included seven pendants celebrating the Vols’ postseason victory.

In addition, the school purchased eight extra rings for staff members to celebrate their victory over Virginia Tech in the Battle at Bristol to bring the Vols’ total ring budget to nearly $40,000 on the year. Documents also show that the trip up to Nashville for the Music City Bowl cost Tennessee a further total of $1,070,75, which sounds like a pretty penny until factoring in a $1.3 million bowl distribution from the SEC.

Sorry, I don't see it that way. When 2 teams are chosen for a random event (such a bowl game, B.O.B., etc.) it isn't a championship.

Championships are determined at the culmination of a series of contests.

What you just described devalues a true championship.

On the back I read in an article it said that we lost to vandy.....why would it say that

I think I'm the opposite.

I'm grumpier about the losses than his quotes.

Go 15-0, he could write a cliche book and I would buy 2.

I am tired of "Behind the chains.", retire that one.

Here's a suggestion...don't listen to him. If you don't like what he says or does, then root for someone else. Your name implies you support our program, but your posts rarely do. *****ing and whining doesn't make things better....

You have no idea. Great advice, but completely off the mark.

Being a fan doesnt mean you blindly follow everything said and done with full acceptance, like a child. Ive been a Tennessee fan in every sport, my whole life. Doesnt mean i like all the moves theu make or coaching hires etc. Tennessee football was here long before Butch Jones and it will still be here when he moves own.

So the Vols rings are ruining it for Clemson? :)

It's is what it is,rings for a bowl win. Some players will appreciate it,some will put it in a closet and forget about it. Whatever we or other people think about them doesn't matter. From what I understand, just about all teams get bowl rings nowadays. It's no biggie to me either way.

Man some people will find anything to complain about. As others have said...most bowls give rings to the winning teams. Should they give them back since it wasn't from the championship? If nothing else it's something that they will get to keep the rest of their lives, pull it out 40 years from now, and remember some of the best years of their lives. They worked their butts off every day for the university and it's pretty cool that they get something out of it to remember it by. I'm sure they wish they were championship rings as well, along with every other team in the county outside of Clemson. Proud of our guys whether they win it all or not, because at the end of the day they put in the work whether it resulted in a championship or not. Go Vols!

120 was a thrilling team if anything. I was fortunate in attending my fair share of games. I was 2-2. Man, what a blast. I jinxed us vs A&M. That was such a close game. Against Bama, when we got the pick then the TD. I thought we might just role(put in their place)them, just like Florida. Bama has a better coach and team than Florida. I jinxed that game too.

But the Florida game was awesome. I've jinxed so many of them, I got worried. The turning point was our 1st TD. 120 was feeling the power of Neyland, it was different than the OK game. It just was.

$250 on a ring is not blowing the budget. It's such a good looking ring. Time to get a NC ring.

I bought a brass knock off of the 98 ring. That's a sharp ring as well.
