Josh Dobbs - NFL Draft thread (merged)

Grandfather was a GM.

Nothing more than NFL nepotism.

I had look his granddaddy up.. I'm old but not that old..

That guy is like a GM legend. If you want to keep your job as a new GM (lynch)... yeah you better take the grandson. .. and maybe learn a few tricks.

Seems like SF already have.

This is the best thing for Josh. Falling in the draft will only fuel him to greater heights. And he'll have no pressure on him.

He will have a Dak Prescott like season next year after he goes in the 4th round like Dak.

Dude.. it's over. You lost any "credibility " when you "reported" Dobbs to 38th overall to Chargers.

Now you are backtracking and saying this is better for Dobbs.. if that was case. You should've stocked with round 4-7 from get go.. OR admit you are total BS on your "reports"..

I'm still right about Dobbs NFL potential. These dumb GMs did the same thing last year with Dak. They'll regret letting Josh fall to day 3. Just like they regret now letting Dak fall to day 3.

What QBs had significant playing time as much as Dak did?

Goff? .. pretty sure fisher said he wasn't ready.

You take Dak over Wentz? Come on dude.. Cowboys offense is way better than eagles right now.

Go and look up their stats. Dak was a million times better than Wentz last year. And beyond that Dak turned around a 4-12 team.

Dak Prescott and Derek Carr are the best young QBs in the NFL.

But Mitch Trubisky, Deshone Kizer, Davis Webb, and CJ Bethard are?

Every year we know there are busts and steals in the NFL draft. Those guys picked ahead of Josh are surefire busts while he will be a steal.

Honestly it doesn't matter where you are picked in the draft. What matters is what you do with it. Once Josh is in the league he will turn into a superstar like Dak Prescott.

Wrong.. financially it matters where you are picked in draft. And money is VALUE. QBs are most valuable. Each round is a certain range of money.. So if GMs are SMART they would take Dobbs later in the round knowing his potential, right?

But you just said GMs are dumb. 🤔

I woulda been stocked wherever Dobbs went. I (and Todd McShay) thought second round was the most likely. Guess not.

Falling to the 4th round will only serve to motivate him like it did Dak.

Like medicine, you might not like it at the time but it's ultimately good for you.

I hope he goes to 4th.. but I'd like to know why you really thought he'd go to chargers that early?

I had mentioned that Steelers had 4 QBs they worked out. Obvious workouts don't matter cause now it could be smokescreen.. but..
Mahomes their top priority
Webb 2nd
Dobbs 3rd
And Peterman 4th.

Steeler must feel pretty good that Dobbs and Peterman will still be avail especially with SF taking Beatherd

Dobbs will be better than Cunningham because he has better intangibles.

Exactly.

Falling to day 3 is the best thing for him. It'll fuel him to be even greater. Just like falling in the draft fueled Tom Brady and Dak Prescott.

Actually if you watched NFL Live yesterday, Tim Hasslebeck did a nice breakdown of Dobbs tape and showed how his skills translate nicely to the NFL. While also showing tape on Deshaun Watson and how he will struggle in the NFL.

GMs are just really stupid. Its the reason why every year a stud QB falls to the 3rd and 4th rounds.

Dobbs will make these GMs look as stupid as Dak made them look last year.

Hey, D4H! I'm glad you didn't commit suicide today, fwiw!

Just keep your chin up and remember: anytime it seems like you've made some mistake or things don't go how you expected, it's always someone else's fault, not yours!

A) he already had no credibilty.

B) of course he backtracked and spun things, that's all this clown knows how to do.

what the?

Reminds me of my granny. I'm old enough to recall the days of castor oil. You had any and I mean any problem or illness, you got a dose of castor oil. She'd always tell me the opposite...."if it tastes good, it can't be good for you!" Then I'd get the oil. Hard to describe that stuff. Maybe runny vaseline or melted car wax? Never tried either of those, but I suspect that's close enough to get the idea.

Now grandpa on the other side of the family(he was my favorite...yeah I know you shouldn't have a favorite grandparent) worked coal mines and raised chickens. Always had a cough. Kept a healthy stock of Jack Daniels and rock candy on hand. Would make a cough syrup on the stove. Good man he was.

I understand the analogy. Comparing that to Dobbs falling way lower than D4H predicted is hilarious.

I know, but having lost my mom a couple of weeks ago has me thinking about days gone by. The phrase you put in bold took me back to my youth a bit. Just reminiscing and sharing I guess. Apologies.

Credibility was gone after that Chernobyl like meltdown I believe in the first half of the Florida game and then spinning it as a psychology experiment on us when he was called out.

D4H goes just as fast backwards as he does forward!

Honestly it doesn't matter where you are picked in the draft. What matters is that I was completely wrong about it and simply just can't get over myself.

Sometimes it's "who you know"...

I never knew his grand dad was part of NFL. I'm sure that helped

If you didn't know of Bobby Beatherd, then you must be very young. He built those great Skins teams with Gibbs as the HC.

But, his grandson is way below Dobbs in ability, that's for sure. I don't watch as much "film" as some on here, but even I can see that.

Dobbs will be better than Cunningham because he has better intangibles.

cunningham was a generational freak man, Dobbs aint. Randall could run faster, jump higher, lean lower, and throw farther than Dobbs can. If Dobbs ends up better in the NFL, its because hes smarter.
