I didn't say he wasn't good. I'm saying he is nowhere near good enough as a passer to play right now in the NFL. He may develop.
My views are much closer to scouts than yours. I am sure of it
Josh Dobbs is a good enough passer to start Day 1 in the NFL and lead a talented team like the Steelers to the Super Bowl.
The idea Dobbs can't pass the ball accurately from the pocket is a MYTH. He proved during the season he was a great passer when he led the SEC in QB rating and passing TDs. He proved it during the senior bowl when he earned the starting job over Davis Webb and was praised by Hue Jackson. He proved it during the combine when he threw the ball as good as any QB there. And he proved it during his pro day when he conducted a flawless workout.
Josh Dobbs is perfectly fine as a passer.
Appeals to authority is a logical fallacy. Even if your views are closer to those of the scouts, it doesn't make it right. Last year my views on Dak Prescott were close to the scouts as well as neither of us thought he could throw the ball accurately enough to be a day 1 starter in the NFL QB. Guess what we were proven wrong.
Josh Dobbs will prove you and the scouts wrong as well. He's a day 1 starter. And if he lands on a good team like the Steelers, he could win a lot of games.
First of all, Prescott only became the starter because Romo got hurt. He didn't win the job as you are insinuating. Neither will Dobbs...on any NFL team. He'll only start if the incumbent gets hurt in preseason. Suggesting anything else is remarkably foolish.Appeals to authority is a logical fallacy. ...according to a Pittsburgh beat writer.
Mike Tomlin was at UT Pro Day on Friday, reportedly looking at Derek Barnett and Cam Sutton.
I'd really hate to have to start pulling for the Steelers.![]()
One bad game does not define a player. Dobbs is a great passer. The fact he led the SEC in almost every passing category proved that.

Remember what I said a few months ago? I said Dobbs would eventually work his way to being a 2nd-3rd round pick. I said he would play well at the senior bowl, dominate the combine, dominate his pro day, and handle all the interviews masterfully. I said he would find himself comfortably in the 3rd round and might go as early as the 2nd round if a team falls in love with him.
I still stand by that. I think 3rd round is his most likely landing spot with a good shot at being a 2nd round pick if one of these teams falls in love with him. Who knows? Steelers could be that team in the 2nd round that takes him. I personally would love to see it. The Steelers would be a perfect landing spot for Josh.
I'll be extremely disappointed if the Steelers draft him that high. If he's around in the 6th or 7th, then ok. If another team wants to draft him that high, oh well.. find another
