Josh Dobbs visiting the Steelers today

Dobbs has definitely done a lot to improve his draft stock over the past 6 months. I remember over the summer last year and early part of the 2016 season the talk was that he would likely be an UDFA or possibly late, late rounds. Now I believe many analysts have him going mid-rounds. Good for him.

Remember what I said a few months ago? I said Dobbs would eventually work his way to being a 2nd-3rd round pick. I said he would play well at the senior bowl, dominate the combine, dominate his pro day, and handle all the interviews masterfully. I said he would find himself comfortably in the 3rd round and might go as early as the 2nd round if a team falls in love with him.

I still stand by that. I think 3rd round is his most likely landing spot with a good shot at being a 2nd round pick if one of these teams falls in love with him. Who knows? Steelers could be that team in the 2nd round that takes him. I personally would love to see it. The Steelers would be a perfect landing spot for Josh.

All True! Plus injury bug is beginning to plague Ben, if Steelers do take Dobbs he might see the field sooner rather than later?? Although hope where ever JD goes he gets a couple seasons to develop!! :crossfingers::crossfingers:

If Dobbs sees the field next year due to a Roethlisberger injury, he might not give the job back.

That could be a Dak Prescott/Tony Romo situation all over again because Dobbs with Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown is not losing many games. He could seriously be the Dak Prescott of next season. It would not be out of the question that he could lead the Steelers to 13+ wins and a super bowl berth.

Dak Prescott was miles better in college.

Not really. Dak just had the benefit of a redshirt year. Imagine if Dobbs had one more year of eligibility. How many records does he break next year?

Probably none. Dobbs would get killed in the NFL unless he really took a step as a passer.

Easy. He MIGHT get drafted in mid rounds. Even so, he must perform in practice. He MUST develop better ball placement or he will never see the field. GMs and coaches like him for a lot of reasons. Right now it's for everything about him except his passing skills. They might believe those can be better developed. You should wait and see before patting yourself on the back.

If Dobbs goes to a place like Green Bay, he'll be very good.

Maybe. More likely that he'll never see the field. He must develop as a pocket passer or he has no chance to see the field. Not sure why you said Green Bay. Their offensive line is suspect right now, so I wouldn't agree with you at all. It doesn't matter where he's drafted. He has to make a huge improvement in his passing skills to ever see the field

Brett Hundley is in his third season as the backup. Not sure at what point his contract and the salary cap demands they draft another backup to Rodgers.

But with Aaron now in his 13th season? If Hundley is not the future, the time to find the next Favre/Rodgers approaches quickly.

They let Sitton go last year, and Lang this year. I hated to see them go, but both kept getting nagging reoccurring injuries. They have some young guards on the roster now, and I am sure they will select another in the draft.

Why the Packers might take Dobbs? See my post above. I rarely agree with Burger, but he would make a good pick for them.

Why them? Be specific

I, I, I. Me, me, me....

I swear, it's like you're trying to take all the credit for Dobbs working his way up the draft board. He's gone, get off his knob now.

Stop imprinting your views onto them. There is no OBJECTIVE evidence to support this idea. Dobbs led the SEC in QB rating and passing TDs this season. He threw the ball so well at the senior bowl that Browns Head Coach Hue Jackson praised him for his accuracy. He threw the ball great once again at the combine and was praised by the commentators. And once again threw the ball great at his pro day.

This idea Dobbs isn't a good passer only exists in your mind. There is no OBJECTIVE evidence for it.

He's perfectly fine as a passer. What he did behind a terrible o-line and receivers who couldn't catch was remarkable.

He's nowhere near fine enough as a passer to garner playing time in the NFL. He could develop with the right team, but make no mistake, he's a project as a pocket passer. His receivers had to make in-route adjustments far too often for anyone to claim he's fine as a passer. At least with a straight face anyway.

I have a hard time taking you seriously given your outrageously absurd claims

No I'm not taking credit for Dobbs hard work and talent. Only saying I saw it from the start while the rest of you doubted him.

I've been the only person on this board going back to 2015 that believed Dobbs would be a great NFL QB.

Reports from the senior game were he was the most accurate passer, and the NFL scouts were shocked at how accurate he was. They are all saying it was a little shocking to see it in person, and he was surprisingly accurate.

Josh Dobbs is a good enough passer to start Day 1 in the NFL and lead a talented team like the Steelers to the Super Bowl.

The idea Dobbs can't pass the ball accurately from the pocket is a MYTH. He proved during the season he was a great passer when he led the SEC in QB rating and passing TDs. He proved it during the senior bowl when he earned the starting job over Davis Webb and was praised by Hue Jackson. He proved it during the combine when he threw the ball as good as any QB there. And he proved it during his pro day when he conducted a flawless workout.

Josh Dobbs is perfectly fine as a passer.

I didn't say he wasn't good. I'm saying he is nowhere near good enough as a passer to play right now in the NFL. He may develop.

My views are much closer to scouts than yours. I am sure of it

It's easier to pass the ball when your offensive line is collapsing every down and your receivers aren't dropping every other pass.

Folks will he shocked how much better Josh is in the NFL than he was in college.

Yet he hasn't played a down and you're already claiming greatness.

You've got to be in your early 20s or younger.
