I also had to get up early today for work. I flipped on ESPN in the background. Great win for MISS ST! But why the heck was Holly Rowe interviewing Dakota Prescott instead of the young lady that just took down the UCONN juggernaut? ESPN is so stupid.

She did a good interview with her (Williams) and the HC immediately after the game on the court. But you are right, ESPN focused more on Dak in the stands rooting for his lady bulldogs than the action on the court at times.

Well I am glad they interviewed the ladies of the hour at least. I really wish there was a legitimate alternative to ESPN. They are horrible.

Well i didn't think anyone could beat uconn...crow eaten and thats all ill say about that.

No need to eat crow. :hi:
Just enjoy the occurrence.
Hopefully that game was a blueprint to beat uconn and it will occur often.
He is awful to his players. Would never let my daughter play for him...

To demonstrate overall athletic excellence by the SEC see the info I cobbled together below. The primary purpose was to look at trends. Nothing mind-blowing here, just confirming what most know that some may not acknowledge primarily due to loyalty and emotional attachments. There is a common denominator.

Ladies go first:
All SEC ladies 2017 basketball tourney final. We know about UT's dominance prior to the past 6-7 years. Coaching matters.
Last 9/10 years SEC ladies softball WS final participants, winning 3 NC's. Coaching matters.

Men:
3/8 SEC Elite 8 men's 2017 basketball tourney participants. In the past 11 years and since Louisville did not join the ACC until 7/14, the "basketball conference" ACC has the same number of NC titles (3) and 2 less FF appearances (6) in the same time period as the SEC's 8. Coaching matters. Sidenotes: the Selection Committee's anti-SEC bias is proven in this sport. We tend to trash our own 19 win teams when other conferences get theirs in. Also, UT has never participated in a FF.

Men's SEC baseball teams participated in 8/10 past WS championships finals, winning 4. Coaching matters.

SEC football teams played for NC's 9 of the past 11 years, winning 8. UF has 14 SEC East Division champion, or co-champion titles since 1992 when divisions formed. UGA has 7, UT has 6. Coaching matters.

In each men's sport, be in the top 3 in the SEC and you will have legitimate opportunities to play for NC's regularly. There is one SEC school that has done that regularly in the three primary men's sports over the past decade or so - UF.

Stop comparing JG to colin kapernick. I'm hoping that Jarrett is nothing like colin kap.

I hope JG plays like CK did at Nevada. That is all people are saying. The similarities in their build, movement, arm strength and throwing motion are striking. CK is a total prick, but I don't think we have anything to worry about in regards to JG being anything like him in personality. People are by all accounts drawn to JG, and he seems to be a natural leader.

Really excited to see how the DBs look in 2017. As Warren said in that video, ability isn't the problem with that unit. It's all technique and fundamentals.
The most telling part to me is the clip where Osborne made the play against Jennings. Warren praised him, but corrected his technique and Osborne could tell what he did wrong and seemed receptive to the coaching.

Maybe I'm looking waaaay too much into it, but the reports from last year seemed like the players didn't buy into Martinez so seeing how much they are buying into Warren gives me more confidence that the secondary will take a big step forward

And still ended up with 12 losses for the season. Currie needs to fire Holly and back the Brinks truck up to Vic Schaeffer's door. What he has done at Miss St is impressive!

What a game last night! I jumped up and yelled like TN won. So glad those girls didn't lose due to a pitiful call by the refs. And yes, I know it's women's basketball, but it was an instant classic.

That was an amazing game and I did the same thing in terms of celebrating. It was a true David vs. Goliath + Goliath's refs story and David came out on top. And anyone giving grief over it being WBB needs to realize it was one the biggest upsets in modern sports history.

For reference UCONN had a 111 game winning streak (NCAA record) and had beaten State by 60 points the last time they met.

I realize that was a hype video but it got me to thinking about Martinez and try as I might I can't recall seeing Martinez coach our DBs that much. You'd think throughout all the years and practice videos I'd remember at least one or two incidents but I can't. I don't know if that means Martinez just wasn't that hands on in practice (which is kinda what I think) or if I just wasn't paying enough attention (possible).

Regardless, I really like Warren. Hell, I even like Canales and he was one I was very skeptical of but so far he just looks and feels right as QB coach for our team.

Also, I have to say that I've truly been impressed with how organized practice has looked out of the gate despite all the staff changes. I know it will take time to build player-trust and all that but as far as practices go and the staff itself they look like they've all worked together for years and that was something I was concerned about with all the changes.
