Dormady taking all-business approach to Vols' QB competition

That's my concern as well. And I'd rather have JG for 3-4 years rather than QD for 2...

Not just that but let's say QD is the real deal for the next two years and JG stays. He'll have two years as well. The more experience with a system, playbook, and game can only help.

Does anyone else feel like Dormady is put in a no win, fall-guy type position this year, less we start 6-2?

This has 2014 all over again written all over it.

If the team starts poorly (4-4 or less) or Dormady gets injured by the Bama game. JG comes in, goes 3-1 or better, wins the bowl, and suddenly Butch can build hype going into 2018 and 19 the way he was selling 15 and 16.

It just seems like Dormady is going to get the job so that Butch can throw him under the bus for the promise of upswing for the next 2-3 years.

We are going to find a way to play two QB's this year I just know it...both guys are really talented

I think so too. I feel confident CBJ knows he has to win (now) so there wont be an issue of starting a younger (potentially) more talented guy simply for the future. If JG wins it and QD transfers I will have no issue with that. Competition is a good thing.

Count on no official announcement going into opening day. Even if one QB clearly emerges, Butch knows he needs to keep them both around.

These QB competitions always work out the way they are supposed to in the end. When has it not?

Manning/Stewart
Clausen/Suggs
Ainge/Schaefer
Bray/Simms
Worley/Peterman/Ferguson/Dobbs

Over the past 20 years when we have had a QB competition, in the end we came away with a 2-3 year top tier SEC QB.

Worley was a top tier SEC QB?

3 of the QBs you listed would be considered top tier SEC QBs.

Point being the QB in each of those scenarios who when the dust settled, be it at the beginning or 6 games into the season was a top tier SEC QB.

Manning
Clausen
Ainge
Bray
Dobbs

When a coach's job is on the line, he will choose the safer option at QB. Dormady starts until he blows it big time.

I'm thinking that as well. If JG wins this day 1, then watch out because were about to see something special.
