Alvin Kamara as a top 10 pick? At least one mock draft says YES.

Here are my top 10 prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft:

1. DE Myles Garrett (Texas A&M)
2. DL Solomon Thomas (Stanford)
3. WR Corey Davis (Western Michigan)
4. CB Cameron Sutton (Tennessee)
5. RB Alvin Kamara (Tennessee)
6. TE David Njoku (Miami)
7. QB Josh Dobbs (Tennessee)
8. CB Ahkello Witherspoon (Colorado)
9. TE Evan Engram (Ole Miss)
10. RB Joe Mixon (Oklahoma) and QB Brad Kaaya (Miami) - tie

I have Alvin Kamara rated as my 5th overall prospect, so if the Bills take him 10th overall it will be a STEAL.

WOW
You seriously have Sutton as the 4th best player in the draft and Barnett isn't even top 10. Barnett has a legitimate shot at being drafted in the Top 10 yet you have Sutton and Dobbs ahead of him when they likely won't get drafted until the 4th round.
WOW

Nope, this is one I actually agree with him on, and, the kid from Stanford, Thomas

I agree about the Stanford kid. Garrett will only play if he feels like it and he will fall on his face. He's a total bust if he doesn't get the team he wants... he should be praising Jesus for the opportunity. Instead, he's acting like a spoiled *****. he will fail if he goes somewhere he doesn't want to play for. He will probably do it on purpose and he will take down the locker room with him. I wouldn't touch him unless I was a sun belt team. Let him play for the falcons...they like quitters.

Have not seen much press on Sutton

Me either. This class is unfortunately pretty stacked at the CB position so he won't be drafted as high as some think, 3rd round latest imo. However, his rival Teez Tabor absolutely bombed the combine and he blew any chance of being drafted in the first 2 rounds imo.

It's been months and you've yet to respond to my offer:

I have a buddy from high school who works in the Titans scouting department. With your permission, I will gladly forward your player evaluations on to him.
Just out of curiosity how did he land that job?

He created his own draft guides several years in a row and sent them to teams. Like, printed and bound them and everything. Got an entry level gig with the Titans and worked his way up.

Similar to D4H but, you know, competent.

Gottcha, I am a coach now but have been looking to move up... What did he do before that?

I honestly don't know. He just decided to create an amateur draft guide and just kept at it. I'm sure he got a more sincere education once he was hired by the team.

That's an awesome story. I'm glad to see someone that put in that much work got noticed and is probably making a good chunk of change now doing what he loves.

AK reminds me of Charlie Garner, a little slower, but, similar. The most talented, not even close, Webb owns that title, others are also above AK, including, Cobb, Cheese, Stewart, Stephens, Garner, Lewis, and others I am forgetting.

Agree with all that, except I think it fairly close between Webb and Garner, with Webb being a little better. Add Jay Graham and Johnnie Jones imo.

Alvin arrived on campus approximately 2 years ago. So I don't get where you say I've been saying for 2 years Jalen is better than him. I said in 2015 Jalen was better. And I stand by that.

My opinion on Alvin changed in 2016 after he transformed his body and became more explosive. Just as my opinion changed with Micah Abernathy when he changed his body for the better from his freshmen to sophomore year. Just as I changed from being a big fan of Todd Kelly Jr. in 2015 to questioning his body composition in 2016 when he got heavier and less athletic.

You've got this backwards. You were hyping Griffin in 2015 and saying Kelly was too pudgy to play safety. Then in summer 2016, you saw a pic of Kelly with his shirt off, oogled his abs a bit, and declared he was much more athletic than before and would have 7 INTs in 2016.

If the 5th ranked player on your board is available at pick #10 then that is a steal.

One isolated incident off the field will not impact Joe Mixon's ability on the football field. Tyreek Hill was one of the best rookies in 2016 and he had a similar off-field issue. That incident might impact Mixon's draft stock but it does not change my opinion of his ability.

Cleveland Browns will select Myles Garrett 1st overall and they are changing to a 4-3 defense this season. Thus, Myles Garrett will be a DE.
Again, you're completely misunderstanding how the draft works for teams. A guy like Mixon will fall down in the draft. Maybe quite far. A team might even be able to grab him in the mid rounds.

Even if a guy is top 5 on your board, if you know the rest of the league won't spend a pick on him until the 2nd or 3rd round because of off-field concerns, then you're dumb for taking him at 10 and paying him the wage to go along with that pick.

Assuming a guy like Mixon is that high on your board, you're getting a steal if you grab him at the end of the 2nd or so because you know other teams won't touch him until the 3rd round because he breaks teenage girls' faces.

Also, RBs are almost never a steal in the top 10 unless they can give you immediate Ezekiel Elliot or Adrian Peterson style seasons.

Mock Draft Puts Kamara In Top 10 | Rocky Top Insider

 Now this is what I'm talking about.

Alvin Kamara going 10th overall to the Buffalo Bills? Apparently they are in love with him and have him rated higher than Dalvin Cook. I've said for a while now Alvin is the best RB in this class and will be a superstar in the NFL. Smart move by the Bills if they take Alvin in the top 10.

I would probably be impressed, except for the fact that you have said similar things about 1/2 our roster at one point or another. So, I'm just going to lean on the wisdom of old instead ...

"A stopped clock is right twice each day".

"Even a blind squirrel finds a nut from time to time".

"Keep throwing $h1T at the wall, and see what sticks".

... but, nevertheless, happy that Alvin is moving up that charts. :good!:

So we have 3 players in the top 10 of the NFL draft and did not win the East!!!! That's without Barnett in the top 10 too!!! Where do you have him btw?

Transformed his body? Lol. Stop trotting out that lame excuse. Alvin played at 214-215 both years looked exactly the same in 2016 as he did in 2015. Same goes for TKJr. You're just making up crap after the fact to make up for your foolishness earlier and inability to judge football talent. You got no eye for it.

And only a fool would stand behind the idea that Hurd is/was/will ever be a better football player than Kamara given their respective bodies of work at this point. Kamara's about to be a millionaire first or second round pick, while Hurd.....actually, what will Hurd be doing again??

And the only reason Alvin wasn't a first or second round prospect in 2015 is because we barely even got to see him play because of Butch's obsession with an overrated, 3 yards and a cloud of dust malcontent jumbo running back with no burst. Plenty Vol fans knew what we had in AK after he flashed in 2015....at 214 lbs.

Todd Kelly Jr. got fat in 2016. Can't believe you are still defending him. Why else do you think there is a movement to move him to LB?

And I never said Kamara added or lost weight. I said he changed his body composition and became more explosive. You can be 215 lbs two years in a row but look significantly different. In 2016 I thought Alvin looked leaner, more defined, and explosive. That's when I finally saw the Marshall Faulk in his game. And I became high on his NFL potential. In 2015 he looked more like Devonta Freeman. I only saw a mid-round prospect.

This isn't me projecting draft position. A lot of busts get drafted high every year. And a lot of stars go in the later rounds. My top 10 list is more about projecting NFL success. These are guys I believe will be stars at the next level.

I currently have Derek Barnett rated as a first round prospects in the mid to late 20s. I believe he will be a solid starter in the NFL. My pro comparison for him is a shorter Michael Bennett. I just don't see Barnett being a future star in NFL.

Dobbs, Kamara, and Sutton will be SUPERSTARS in the NFL.

No, you called him fat in 2015 and then declared he'd be great in 2016 after you saw a pic of him seemingly trimmed down.

Stop re-writing mistakes.

I was actually hyping up TK in the lead up to the 2015 season. I was one of many people advocating during the off-season that he should start ahead of McNeil and Randolph at safety. It was during the 2015 season that I lost favor in TK. He started looking out of shape during the season and wasn't as good as I hoped. Then in the off-season before the 2016 I thought he was getting in better shape so I hopped back on his bandwagon only to be disappointed during the season once again with how out of shape Kelly was.

I've always been a huge fan of TK's insticts. He got an amazing nose for being always around the football. But he needs to realize that he needs to be in shape to perform at a high level. He needs to lose weight and tone up his body.

Barnett is in the 25-30 range on my big board. In a normal year he would be a top 15 prospect. But this is a extremely talented and deep draft class.

2017 NFL Draft could go down as one of the best ever.
