苦い怒った老人

(Bitter Angry Old Man)

苦い-means old, but they use this word for things, not people.

怒った-means got angry

老人-is kind of more like senior citizen.

怒りっぽい爺さん-okorippoi jiisan is probably better.

Litterally it means "easily angered older man," but the connotation is about what your going for

Story time. Can someone give the skinny on this?

There is no story.
Fulmer had conversations to get the job, Johnny was gone regardless.

Only person that cost Majors hos job was Majors.

As far as Phil wrangling to get the soon to be vacant job, thank goodness.
At least I've seen 1 NC in my life.

But do you want someone in the AD office that POSSIBLY said anything disparaging about a FORMER COACH?

Wrong, coach had heart surgery and Fulmer worked behind the scenes to take his place while he was out.

Fulmer should have never done what he did to coach. He didn't want to wait his turn.

Also, Fulmer would have never won anything without Cutcliffe. Fulmer could get great recruits but couldn't coach them or control them. Cutcliffe Was the glue that bonded the winning teams. Look what happened when Fulmer didn't have him.

Heard the same thing and everyone knew Cut was THE guy ...

So my wife comes home with a blown tire. I go out to put the obligatory donut on so we can drop by Discount Tires tomorrow because she has the warranty.

One of the lug nuts was rounded so the wrench wasn't catching and an impact drill also didn't work. So Peyton(my 18 month old) comes strolling out, no pants, just his diaper and a shirt, looks at the wheel, bends over with his hands on his knees, goes "hmm". He then stands up and walks away.

Yeah Peyton, it's rounded. We know. Thanks.

Sounds like I would have done the same thing

Love Phil Fulmer, but people tend to gloss over or completely ignore the fact that Fulmer became the head coach at UT through deception and deceit. Screwed Majors (also a National Championship coach, even if it wasn't at UT) over royally.

I respectfully disagree. Fulmer got that job because he got results that season that stubborn Johnny did not get. Majors would send a 5'10 185 "fullback" crashing off-tackle vs. Bama over and over "until we get this right." Ridiculous.

Exactly. Love em both, but everybody's time is up, sooner or later.

There's nothing wrong about what I said.
Phil did go for the job, that he knew was going to be open. Like most knew.

JM let his alcoholism get the better of him and his common sense. Opened his liquid courage filled mouth to boosters 1 too many times.

I know some can't stand the truth but not my problem. Not Phil, then someone else. Was what it was.

Oh, damn right it was Cutcliffe.
That's one way to be a good coach, hire better a assistants.
You know, like Jones is trying to do now? Or do you dislike him doing it also?

True story...

Majors came back after Fulmer had beat the crap out of Spurrier and Florida and won at LSU. Drs wanted Majors to stay away after his heart surgery for the year. majors comes back and UT is ranked 3rd and undefeated to lose to Arkansas on a last second FG.

The next week against Bama, the student section was chanting "BLOCK THAT ARTERY"

Well, actually the OC was Randy Sanders for the National Championship. Cut had already left for a HC job.

I don't care who said what about anyone as far as being an AD.

Do they hire winners?
Do they allow coaches to do what they need to do?
That's my concerns as far as AD'S go.
Don't care if David, Phil or Currie stepped on any toes.

No words needed.

Then we're on the same page in a book others haven't opened. :)

Yes sir.
Him upsetting PF or anyone at UT, is the last concern I have. Not even mandatory that coaches like him.
Just make good hires and don't **** up recruiting and I'll be happy.
Hope all the conversations suggesting otherwise, are wrong. Nothing left but to find out, now.

Just win baby.

That's the one.

Heck, I hope Currie is smart enough to hire a proven winner to make himself look awesome. Just like PF did with Cut.
Only on VN can making an excellent hire be turned into an insult.

Jones has been at the 8 win mark with lots of talent like Fulmer.
I'm hoping he made the hires that puts us over the top also.

Suggesting that's a negative... ridiculous.
