If I had to put $$$ on it, then I would pick QD too. Just because he has a 1 year head start and at some live game experience. That being said, I would not be shocked to see JG take the first snap either. Truly, this appears to be a real QB competition to determine who our starter is.
If I'm QD and I'm not the starter at the close of Spring Practice, I'm going to find some place else to play ball. QD may have more pro potential than any QB we've had since Peyton.
hmy:Butch won't name a starter till the season starts because if he does the back up might bolt, these days a kid doesn't know how to work for the job he thinks the job should be handed to him they don't know what the word compete means.
The QB battle will go into the first couple of games. It is the only way to keep 2 here this coming season. The eventual starter will be the one that protects the ball and gets the team under control avoiding penalties. Arm strength accuracy etc would be a second priority.
I could see QD starting the season and JG coming on after the Ga Fl games.
I ageee that Jones is a wild card and if he is a significantly better runner he could have a package of plays he runs. This would put pressure on the opposing D to prep. The best part is it would not be special plays for us. No extra prep time. If his passing is a close second he could be the guy. Again taking care of the ball and managing the O are key.
Don't care who starts, I just prefer all competitors know where they stand as early as possible. Pretty sure it will all be "officially" left up in the air until the week before the first game but I don't agree with that tactic as a means to retain players.
Doesnt mean its the only way we can win. I believe if Dobbs was a better passer he could have found open receivers when some of those plays broke down or before they broke down.
