Cameron Sutton says Tennessee QB Jarrett Guarantano is ‘amazing’

If I had to put $$$ on it, then I would pick QD too. Just because he has a 1 year head start and at some live game experience. That being said, I would not be shocked to see JG take the first snap either. Truly, this appears to be a real QB competition to determine who our starter is.

Really has a two year head start being an EE and the backup for two seasons. Minimal in actual playing time tho.

If I'm QD and I'm not the starter at the close of Spring Practice, I'm going to find some place else to play ball. QD may have more pro potential than any QB we've had since Peyton.

Not according to anyone who has watched them play or practice. They have said that about JG. That is why he is the favorite to win the job. He passes and runs better than QD according to those in the know.

Hi 🖐...I'm Larry Scott, and I will design this offense.

I do laugh when I see people making statements about the offense as if it's set in stone. The offense we ran last year is not the same one from the year before. Contrary to perception the offense has been continually evolving.

:eek:hmy:Butch won't name a starter till the season starts because if he does the back up might bolt, these days a kid doesn't know how to work for the job he thinks the job should be handed to him they don't know what the word compete means.

The most sense you've ever made.

This quarterback battle will go several games into the season.

I have a felling he is being played.

Don't care who starts, I just prefer all competitors know where they stand as early as possible. Pretty sure it will all be "officially" left up in the air until the week before the first game but I don't agree with that tactic as a means to retain players.

The QB battle will go into the first couple of games. It is the only way to keep 2 here this coming season. The eventual starter will be the one that protects the ball and gets the team under control avoiding penalties. Arm strength accuracy etc would be a second priority.

I could see QD starting the season and JG coming on after the Ga Fl games.

I ageee that Jones is a wild card and if he is a significantly better runner he could have a package of plays he runs. This would put pressure on the opposing D to prep. The best part is it would not be special plays for us. No extra prep time. If his passing is a close second he could be the guy. Again taking care of the ball and managing the O are key.

I've got no problem with that, but it's hard to manage 1QB much less 2 of them. I asked a question a while back. Would we be good enough to run a two QB system? From what I can tell, most didn't think so. With the changes, our Oline will be better, it would have to set records of bad to be worse.

120 was a special team, not in a good way either.

Get it together fellas!

I agree with you that the coaches should be honest with the players.

Having seen many a QB be reported as looking impressive in practice then once entering a game things going south in a hurry (think Peterman), then its very reasonable to believe that it may take a few "real" games for the next QB to rise to the top. Not naming a starter after spring does not necessarily mean someone is being deceived because the coaches want to retain them as the back up. IMHO, TIFWIW, AARP

Doesnt mean its the only way we can win. I believe if Dobbs was a better passer he could have found open receivers when some of those plays broke down or before they broke down.

2015 Dobbs, inconsistent at pretty much any distance, but 2016 Dobbs was more accurate, but he didn't get much help from his receivers, every one of them, even Malone were dropping passes left and right that could have and should have been caught.
