Manning silent, Blackburn never got formal interview

It's all good Behr. You're one of the posters that I can have the same opinion or different opinion without all the drama. I'm a fan. Feel the same about butchna.

I'll try to listen again if it's on YouTube. I'm leaning towards her saying "the name on my desk" (singular). But I don't trust myself enough to say it as fact.
Yea, I feel the same. It's funny tho, Butcna is one of my favorite posters and because I wasn't familiar with any of the AD prospects, obviously except Phil, I based my opinion mainly on Butchna's support for Blackburn. Now I'm like, damn. Lol. But that's part of the reason I'm trying to find out more about all of this, so I can feel better about forming my own opinion. :)

Lol. Butchna is great at accepting something that's done and seeing the good in what it is.

I have to share my concerns and flush out the negative before I can move on.

A concerns colon cleanse :)

If Blackburn never got an interview.. it means they were not interested.. it happens everyday with all jobs.. not hard to understand

Absolutely! Gotta say I was for either Fulmer or Blackburn...but being honest, what we've been doing the last decade hasn't worked. If new chancellor, who seems solid, decides that prime criteria for job is P5 AD experience, then that's her call, and probably some validity.

And butchna was prepared for a disaster hire (Bohn) and got anything but. :dunno: All of the concerns and misgivings and scuttlebutt about his "people skills" are part and parcel of being an AD...it's the JOB! Young guy operates in the works of a high end political academic environment and you're going to ruffle some feathers...whole mattress worth! Take what you learned to another university and either repeat the "stooge" act his predecessor Krause did with Snyder, or actually attempt to improve a "just fine " program that Krause almost bankrupted. Mandating that Snyder improve his OOC schedule is a move we admire in other programs (Bobby Bowden built his legend with his "any place any time" philosophy) but some are painting that as bullying the old legend in Manhattan. We're talking about his bad hiring and our examples are rehiring Snyder, hiring a proven winner in Weber and replacing a long time WBB coach (with two recent losing campaigns) with a rising coaching star in Jeff Mittie...I'll take that! We can quibble that Weber's star was/is descending and that Brad Underwood was available...exactly! Underwood was AVAILABLE...why? All these other openings since his Stephen F Austin squads high flying act got rolling and all these other FAILED AD's that didn't snap him up...because in our message board EA Sports "I told you so" world, AD's don't get to take too many calculated risks. Mittie had revitalized TCU's program so it wasn't a plunge that he would do the same for K-State...where's the credit for that line of thinking? Lastly on the idea that Blackburn was wronged by deranged UT BOT and devious donors...also part of THE JOB. Donor pledges a huge portion of the operating budget and you better know how to deal with that person. Because they ain't going to SHUT UP AND GIVE YOU THE MONEY...just not real life. Navigating that scrum at Kansas State is complex as it is at all universities. You make missteps and bad decisions that you want to take back in every job and you handle people differently after you mess up... part of learning. Not guaranteeing success for Currie but I like the odds. Sorry for the tldr. :hi:

I don't believe Currie rehired Snyder.
Dates say he arrived at K State in 2009 and Snyder was rehired late Nov. 2008.
So the hires would be the 2 bb coaches with mixed results.
I agree Weber appeared a decent hire at the time, so not sure what went wrong.

Agreed on fundraising at K-State.

So let me get this straight. According to your twisted logic, Blackburn gets no credit for football championships because Blackburn didn't hire Huesman? Even though Huesman had been there for 4 seasons before Blackburn got there and won 0 championships in that time(none since 1984), BUT won 3 in a row AFTER Blackburn gets there. AND..according to the same logic Blackburn gets NO credit for the 4 women's basketball titles,EVEN THOUGH he hired the coach, because they basketball program had previous success under previous coach before he got there? Does that pretty much sum up your point?

UTC started winning the conference when APPY ST left the conference....Coincidence? I think NOT!!!
