Some teams have him as the first RB. I don't think his 40 today changes anyone's mind. He's more quick than fast. His vertical and broad jumps show that elite first step explosion. He's just not a guy who can sustain that acceleration to get to an elite top end speed.

Still the best RB in this draft.

Its weird how you just pivot from "he will run a 4.3" to "he's more quick than fast" thinking no one will notice. I hope you dont do that in real life because everyone will hate you, even if they dont say it to your face.

4.53 is a decent time. Plus most teams know he's not a burner. His game is more about first step explosion. That's what the vert and broad jump showed. He was first among all RBs in those tests. And that shows he's got the best first step explosion of any RB in this draft.

That is what the tape shows.

I think he was just nervous doing the 40. His personal best is probably in the high 4.4s. Just ran slower than he's capable of today. Especially on that second run where he was all out of sorts to start.

Literally an hour and a half ago, at 1:11 pm, you "called" that he'd show world class speed and run a 4.3 flat. Now you're just nonchalantly "oh well, he's more quick than fast". Lol. You're unbelievable man.

Combine is only good for confirming what you see on tape. On tape Alvin has exceptional first step explosion but not great top end speed. Combine confirms that given his elite vertical and broad jumps but only average 40.

Exactly.

I was just hoping 40 yards was short enough that his lack of great top end speed wouldn't be exposed. But it was.

Good thing a first down is only 10 yards. Alvin is more than explosive enough to be dominant in the NFL even with average top end speed.

So all those idiot GMs and NFL guys who know nothing , who don't remotely have the brilliance and acumen that you do.....they knew that AK isn't a burner, while you proclaimed he was on the cusp of winning his own island via his world class speed?
