Lol

Be specific?

Every year the price goes up over there. We build new facilities. We do multi million dollar renovations. We bleed more out of a loyal fanbase

But in the Hamilton years we didn't protect ourselves in contracts. We do things like give Fulmer a $6 million parachute when nobody wanted the guy and nobody even gave him a sniff after he was let go. He wasn't in demand. We gave him a contract that came with an automatic extension for 8 wins at a time when he was getting abused by our rivals.

We fired Mike Hamilton and gave him a $1 million buyout and tickets for life for overseeing the downfall of our athletic department.

Monte Kiffin collected a longevity bonus days before leaving UT.

We let Lane Kiffin wreck our football program.

We wrote in bonuses for making the NIT for Cuonzo.

We hired Derek Dooley and then ran off the one guy who tried to stop it.

We twisted in the wind for months while our name was dragged thru the mud on this title 9 deal while disgruntled former employees helped to assist in our public flogging.

We cowered in front of the NCAA at the beginning of this decade when they came to dig on our former football coach and ended up show causing the best basketball coach most will ever see over on the hill.

We led Bruce Pearl to slaughter in that meeting with the NCAA. We did not protect him even though legal knew he was walking into a trap.

We hired Donnie Tyndall a few months before he went under NCAA investigation.

We put Donna Thomas in charge of our Hall of Fame and she was embarrassingly inept. We reward her by putting her on the AD search committee.

We let Mike White embarrass us by toying with us.

We let Charlie Strong back out on us.

Will Muschamp turned us down while he was a coordinator looking for a first time head coaching job.

All of the above is why we need a strong athletic director and not a single one of those things have to do with facilities or money. We need a leader who wants to win and will do what is necessary for this University to get back on top.

Everything has to point towards winning. Not facility upgrades or money. Winning comes first. Everything else benefits from it.

So we've essentially hired a penny pinching Mike Hamilton (facilities and fundraising) who is also a butthole that likes to meddle in programs and is a stickler for compliance.

I hope like hell he doesn't meddle in the programs like that. To where it's a negative..

As far as Snyder goes- it's not hard to understand why a 90 year old coach prefers afternoon games. Snyder also clashed w Currie over wanting his son to be HC in waiting.

So what you are telling me is hamilton mismanaged money with coaching buyouts and he made some poor hires.

So we are hiring a better money manager proven at KSU. His coaching hires have been ok not great but nothing like Hamiltons failures.

So tell me specifically what Blackburn has done to prove winning is his focus?

Overall the coaching moves were a big "meh." I don't think we downgraded, but I don't think it's necessarily the home run off season the pumps think it is.

Happy to change my tune if the recruiting and on the field returns are up though.

I would be really surprised if you felt any other way. You're consistent if nothing else..

Is it safe to say as a UT fan, we really shouldn't get our hopes up too high anymore?

The big money people that have influence, probably help with bagmen, decide whom will get important positions like AD, etc. just don't seem to put winning first.

Therefore, should we just hope for the best and stop being so emotionally attached to a program that will probably never meet our expectations; myself included?

Nah, he needs cats. He seems more like a cat person to me.

Lol.

What did he do to win?

His latest hire in hoops is falling like a rock off a cliff now. Shouldn't we wait to see how that one plays out?

Bruin I'm not gonna continue to argue with your contrarion hot takes.

This hire sucks. Plain and simple. Dave Blackburn would have a been a change for the better because he would actually care about winning.

I realize you are using a two week skid by the UTC bb team as your dead horse but nobody gives a crap about that. Dave B has won at unprecedented levels since arriving there. Made great hires. He was the hire to make.

Instead we did what we always do. Settle for what is comfy and controllable.

Bye.

The facts are you have no real intelligent answer for how an AD focuses on winning.
That's why you are going away.

ADs number one job is to raise money and build winning faculties.

ADs number 2 job is to hire coaches to win.

Currie has been damn good at number 1 and been just fine at the second

Listed 15+ screwups that would not have happened with a competent AD who focused on winning and protecting our program.
