I hate this hire, k state is ok but not great in any sport, the guys it ties are good Raleigh, lane kiffin and Bruce pearl all 3 of these guys got it into trouble, from what I've read this guy is a penny pincher, the admin just showed what it thinks of sports and this fan base

@JaredStillman: From a K-State alum friend: Currie is a good AD. Surprised he didn't get the Bama job. He knows how to stretch a dollar.

Currie is the main reason Frank Martin left K-State.

Not really. A coach leaving is usually timed with a new AD hire. Frank Martin wasn't happy at K State and shopped his name numerous times beforehand. He also ran into trouble there.

New AD and he jumped. Not uncommon. They perhaps upgraded as well.

Believe what you want but when TN is still stuck in mediocrity in the next couple years and we all learn it's not all butch's fault then we will see who gets the last laugh

Solid hire k St facilities look great now and before people associate him to Hamilton he left shortly after Kiffin hire and wasn't here for the train wreck

Bruce Weber is about to go to his 3rd NCAAT out of 5 years at KSU. Martin will make his first this year. The two leagues aren't comparable. Where do they go from here? Don't know. But I think you have to give the nod to Weber since Martin left.

Martin made the NCAA 4 out of 5 seasons in Manhattan and has an Elite 8 appearance. He's also taking South Carolina to their first tournament appearance since 2004. They're basically on par with Auburn in terms of basketball historical success. Both K-State and South Carolina were in rough shape when he arrived and he made both competitive. Weber had a strong resume when he arrived in Manhattan, but may miss the tournament three years in a row.

"Did I stutter" is the epitome of passive aggressive and troll. I was genuinely curious how someone could think he was "far more qualified." Should have remembered who I was talking to.

I don't think it means what you think it means. That sentence is usually followed by a right cross but yeah "passive."

Regardless my statement was correct.

Martin left a mess in Manhattan and a train wreck of a roster. He was imploding and hopefully gets control of himself before he goes Bobby Knight again.

Whenever I now read about our AD search, all I hear is circus music when they are trying to put up the big top... this is getting to be just a flat joke.

I see and hear the intro to the Benny Hill show...This is an absolute clusterflunk. I hope David Blackburn gets a great job like he deserves somewhere, and has great success. This is a humiliation he doesn't deserve. Nobody in CFB eats their own like UT...simply pathetic.

Quotes from everybody's favorite VFL, Bruce Pearl, and former AD Mike Hamilton when Currie took the KSU AD job in 2009:

“John Currie’s going to be a tremendous (athletic director) one day, but selfishly, I hope we can keep him around here for as long as possible,” basketball coach Bruce Pearl told the Chattanooga Times Free Press last year. “He’s been so important to our program. He’s been one of the guys that’s helped us get to this point.”

Currie and Hamilton hired Pearl in 2005, and Pearl went on to earn national coach of the year honors after leading the Volunteers to a 22-8 record in his first season. Currie also played a significant role in the hiring of football coach Lane Kiffin and baseball coach Todd Raleigh.

“He was intimately involved in our hire of our football coach, basketball coach and baseball coach, all three of our most recent hires,” Hamilton said. “The basketball coach in particular, coach Pearl, it was the two of us who did the search. There wasn’t anybody else involved in it. He was very much involved in a lot of our research, planning the kind of questions we were going to ask and helping make decisions. It was the same when we hired coach Kiffin this past winter.”

Lol. Does this help push you back in the right direction, Ziti?

I'll look deeper into this when I get home from work. My first impression is that this is a very good hire. The Kansas State athletics program has done very well financially in Currie's time there. Their athletic budget has increased significantly since he took the job, and they've generated a surplus each year. So he's making more money and investing it back into athletics.

I look forward to seeing what he can accomplish with Tennessee's resources.

More thoughts later.

I've personally never gotten why people get all bent out of shape over him taking a knee. Should have been a non-story. IMO it's a much better form of protest than some march or sit in that crowds public spaces or creates traffic problems on roads/sidewalks/parks/etc.

The anthem has always been the best time to make a beer run or get to the bathroom without a wait anyway.

Why does it not surprise me that this is the attitude you would have towards the national anthem? Pathetic.

So is Beard hired yet? Can't wait to see WRs coached up by him.

If Jones hires him and sits back like Dabo we'll he alright with this staff. Still want a better LB coach but we can win a lot of games with this new staff. IMO

So. Pursuing an evidence-based defense? It's almost like you're a lawyer...
