Afternoon rumblings…

"While we aren't ruling out Joker Phillips that one doesn't seem as realistic as first thought. Phillips' NCAA issue in the past could be a concern with the SEC.

I am not sure the Kansas State assistant is interested in leaving his alma mater and I'm not sure if Jones sees him as a fit.

One name I am hearing alot more today is Kevin Beard. The former Miami receiver and Miami coach is now at Florida International. He obviously knows Larry Scott. We are tracking as much as we can with Beard.

Tyron Carrier at West Virginia could be another name to watch although he has only been at West Virginia for a year."

I knew as soon as I thought that the kstate assistant was my favorite that Hubbs would say no chance lol

Butch can do better than Beard. He has a very short bio and very little experience coaching at this level.

With Beard, I would guess that how they evaluate him as a candidate will have a lot to do with Scott's previous experience with him at Miami. If they think he's a really good up-and-coming coach it could be a very solid hire.

I'm proud to see Nathan being invited to Grudens QB camp. Such a nice and humble kid. Glad he was able to make a name for himself. Been rooting for him since high school when Gator Dep was on here posting.

With what I know about Craig, I don't want him. Give me someone who can teach the WR position very well. We have recruiters. I want great WR production outside of blocking.

Experience wise for sure since he was only a college WR coach in 2015. Players and recruits loved him at Miami. He got the job because of his connections for recruiting. He was a HS OC and mentored Amari Cooper, Ermon Lane, Ammon Richards etc on 7 on 7 teams. Not really sure what he did at UGA recruiting wise since they don't give Quality control guys credit for work they do.

Would have to trust Scott on that one and with how they continue to attack S Florida hiring Beard definitely would help.

Plus he's a former Cane player as well.

Just met DJ Matthews, what a great kid. Said he was really considering TN, but he didn't think coach Z would stay and that's why he stuck with FSU. Great kid tho, class act

Good points that I didn't know. I'll trust Butch and Scott with whatever they decide.
