Azzanni Departing to NFL

Bout time this joke left the team. All he's done is fail and flail. Now he's basically tapped out at a Dooley level for life.

Azzanni's replacement is a joke, aterrible pick and a worse coach. What was Butch thinking, he is done but does not know it. No decent coach wants to come to UT knowing Butch is done... There now we are ready to hire a new coach...his welcome notes are done......

Bring on Wes Welker!

This is shaping up like Dooley's last year ... change out all of the coaches, then get canned the next season.

CBJ does have better assistant coaches on board though.

So as of now there are 8 with one opening left to fill - that will mean 2017 will have:

- 5 new coaches
- 2 in their second year
- 2 in their 5 year (all started with CBJ)

Stripling is not coaching but is still on staff in a support role.

I took a look at Alabama (... because I was curious ...) in 2017 they will have:

- 3 coaches in their first year on the staff
- 4 coaches in their second year on the staff
- 1 coach in his third year
- 1 coach in his 10th year

If staff turnover = coach on hot seat ... on his way out - then Saban may be available next year. :)

This is the 5th assistant change since the end of the season.

though most agree many of changes needed, we don't have time for training wheels...all these new hires need to be seamless...but they rarely are, in any organization.

Does Chicago need a worn out old semi-retired college basketball coach who shot his wad decades ago as well? I hope.

A couple weeks ago all you read in the bball forum was how it was so nice to finally have a real bball coach and how wonderful a job he was doing. Now its just this crap.

Why are you folks enamored with guys like Welker who have no coaching experience or have never out recruited Alabama or LSU for a prospect ? This is Tennessee not some directional school who can take a chance on someone like Welker. Tennessee needs to replace Azzani with a high level recruiter who can also coach wide receivers

Uhhjjj, did everyone miss the news that he was hired by the Texans less than a month ago.

Probably for the same reason many are enamored with a candidate for athletic director with absolutely no experience, it's a familiar name.

Butch isn't a defensive guy, so he's more willing to hire good, qualified people who he hasn't worked with before on that side of the ball.

The offensive side of the ball is his domain, and he has a well-documented habit of only hiring buddies, people he has worked with before, or cast-off guys (like Canales) even if there appear to be more well-qualified people available. He wants people under him who are going to do what he says.

Sounds like any coach or politician or executive, to me.
Life is a relation business. we all like to go to church with people of same faith, and we all want to work where we feel welcomed, and where we are appreciated. Our friends are generaly people that avow the same ideas, and principles, and makes us feel good, about ourselves.
