'18 DT TN D'Andre Litaker

I think we get almost everyone we want instate this year. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up signing:

DT Greg Emerson
DT Brant Lawless
DT D'Andre Litaker
DB Brendon Harris
DB Jaylon King
OT Cade Mays
OT Maxwell Iyama
WR Alontae Taylor
WR Camron Johnson
WR Tykee Ogle-Kellogg
RB Master Teague
TE Gavin Schoenwald

To be honest, Teague and Harris are the only ones I'm worried about. Teague seems to be listening to Muschump early because of playing time and Harris, while liking the Vols, also seems interested in out of state schools like Clemson and FSU if they offer. He is a big time need tho, so hopefully Warren can land him

TE Jacob Warren would be nice to add to that list from Farragut.

And Oliver Lane, Jarek Campbell.

I would take both of them too but if we could only get one of those two I would take Campbell. Mainly because of having more depth at OL & Lane wasn't highly regarded to start with while Campbell has been all along.

Their current respective offer lists would suggest otherwise.

There are many reasons that affect offer lists. Look at how we've handled offers in the past. Some with absolute definite potential we might not offer for a long while. Others with less potential we seem to offer faster. So, you can't go by offers alone.

So what makes one "highly regarded" (your words) and the other not? If not offer lists, then what? Especially this early in the game. That seems like pretty flawed logic.

Yes, but you highlighted Campbell too. His offer list isn't that strong as of today

You're making my point for me. It would seem like Lane has the better offer list at this point in time, yet Tony is suggesting that Campbell is the more "highly regarded" player. I am wondering why he thinks that. What is it based on?

Lane has VA Tech, Wisconsin, Missouri, GA Tech, Duke, Memphis, and Vandy among others.

Most of Lane's offers have come lately. Campbell does only have 4 offers which surprises me but we've been high on his list since we have offered. It's probably going to come down to what we need at the time.

Notice this offseason we're not rushing with trying to get commits soon like we did last offseason. We're being more patient but are still putting out tons of offers. We have got the state of Tennessee covered with offers to most/all of the big guns for 2018. Thanks!

I'm not sure.

I'm not sure.

I'm basing it on two things. Film is one & need is the other. We have some depth now at OL so Lane is not a must even though I hope we get him because he's from the state of Tennessee. WR is not going to be a great big need either but Campbell as an ATH can also play S & CB.

I would accept Lane over Campbell without a complaint so it's not that big of a deal. I just think Campbell with the versatility we could use more. Thanks guys for the nice civil discussion. :good!:

How many commits did we have this time last year?

Campbell and Litaker live together, that's the main reason Campbell is more important than lane. It's probably going to be a package deal wherever they go.

EDIT: looks like Lane could be on commit watch. picked up a UT offer and is a lifelong fan.

A few more than we have now but I can't remember the exact number. More than two for sure.

Wrong. None of the players that signed with us in 2017 were committed at this point last year. The only player that was committed at this time last year was Higgins.

I must be thinking about the 2016 class then. Time flies by doesn't it? :) I didn't investigate it to find it either but it seems it was last seasons class we had more than two commits at this time. I guess it was 2016. Thanks!

Edit: I guess it was the de-commits that I was thinking about. The few that left/de-committed which puts it over the number two this time last year.

1. Unless Campbell has gotten another offer in the last couple hours, then he only has 3 offers; UT, UK, Memphis.

2. According to 247, only two of Lane's offers have come since December, so most of his offers aren't recent.

I think the Campbell-Litaker relationship will make him an important piece of the puzzle, but independent of that, I'm not sure.
