Until God himself rewrites Georgia's SEC Championship record, I will never even come close to considering this.

That is absolutely the most insane amount of talent (outside some the crappy years in Texas) that I've ever seen wasted.

And it's not even close

Derek Barnett keeps falling down draft boards in a lot of these mocks. I don't get it. I feel like people are overthinking this. He was an absolute monster week after week.

That being said, if he has to drop in the draft, I hope he drops to the Cowboys.

If I recall the darkness that was that year, I think it was our secondary that was confused more than anything. How many wide open deep passes did we give up due to blown assignments?

Man, I hate filing through those old memories. I just remember them being really, really slow everywhere. Oh, and they completely forgot they were playing tackle football instead of 2-hand touch.

Mizzou fiasco sealed his fate, no? It was the last straw for me.

Seriously, I thought it was going to be the best of both worlds. I thought we were going to beat Mizzou, go 6-6, and still fire him. Then, when we lost, it was all over.

I thought the MSU game sealed his fate, but I am not sure if Hart felt the same way.

Colin Cowherd continues his apparent obsession with UT football as today during a segment on Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, as he called UT the "most underachieving program in college sports."

Go to about 3:35 if you want to hear the UT part.

His argument and viewpoints are a bit extreme. Expected from a journalist trying to obtain viewers and listeners. I also started to lose focus on his ranting as soon as the blonde came on my screen.

The closer the draft the more the measuarbales seem to be overtaking the production. He doesn't have the upside like others when looking at the measurables is what seems to be being said.

Georgia.....A state that produces the same number of elite players as CA, with a quarter of the population and now is close to Florida with half the people with one major football program should be light years better. Not only should they be better now, but historically.

I'd love to see the Vikings get him, but they don't get a first round pick without trading up. I don't get it either though. He'll be a steal, wherever he goes.

I am not really sure which ones are better than others. I just ran through a half dozen or more, and 3 had him taken at #11 by the Saints. Don't think that's bad. One had him taken by SF at #2 behind Garrett.

I would not like it for him, but I would also love it for the Cowboys if he fell.

Titans get Mike Williams at 8 and Barnett at 15!

So.....there is another Swain said thread over in the FF. Swain apparently is not impressed with the Wells hire. Who gives a sh** what Swain thinks, but of course it brought all the haters out.

Here was my post in that thread, which of course up to this point has not had a response.

"(name withheld) served as linebacker coach and defensive coordinator for the Vols freshman team in 1973 before moving to Wichita State University the following season. He spent five years at Wichita State, where he coached the offensive line in 1974 and 1977–1978 and served as linebacker coach in 1975–1976. He followed those years with a one-season stint at Vanderbilt, serving as an aide to Commodores head coach George MacIntyre.

Beginning in 1980, (name withheld) served 13 years as a Vols assistant coach, initially as the offensive line coach, and then as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

If you weren't able to figure out who this is by name, what would you think of this resume prior to 1980? What would you think of the fact that this man had NO big time O-line coaching experience prior to 1980. No OC experience at all and no HC experience at all prior to when he actually did it at TN.

Prior to coming to UT, he was the aide to a Vandy HC.

Reserve judgement until you see for yourself what Wells can do with the opportunity that has been given to him."

What do you guys think? Would you have been impressed with this resume had he been a choice for our next O-line coach instead of Wells, or anyone else for that matter?

We all know how it turned out, but looking at his qualifications prior to returning in 1980....this would have to look like an absolutely horrible hire to anyone...other than the fact that he was a former player here.

I'm not impressed with Wells's resume, but I am impressed with the reviews from high school coaches and some of the more well-respected posters on this board and others. I also think it's not insignificant that Wells has been on the staff for a while, giving Butch a chance to work with him and get to know him. I don't think this move would have been made if Butch wasn't completely convinced Wells would be an upgrade over Mahoney. I'm cautiously quite optimistic about this change.

My posts per day count is still under 1.0. I have been working hard to rectify that. The problem is that when I signed up, I ventured into the FF instead of coming over here. The trauma from that visit precluded me from coming back for many, many months. I did finally see the light and make my way over here. It has been mostly refreshing. I will continue to work like heck to get my posts per day average up to a more respectable level.

After going 2-2 vs vandy and 0-4 vs Muschamp and 0-8 vs SEC West opponents, I knew it wasn't meant to be.

Oh we are talking about dooley? :)
