"Talent sets the floor, but character sets the ceiling"

Witch Doctor say you are correct! unfortunately its been almost 10 years since I have been and NOTHING in Mid. Tenn is even close. I could eat a bathtub full of their baked beans. lol

Bones Never Lie.

ps I used to spend a lot of time on Patton Ave....played a ton of times over there lol good times, love Asheville

It's pretty much the same over here. Weird NC style pork BBQ that is always flavorless and tastes like it was smoked in a crockpot with pure vinegar. Or God-awful SC BBQ with their mustard sauce.

I still occasionally skip out of work early and drive over to Ridgewood. Worth every bit of that hour+ drive each way to get it too. I always get a pint of beans to take back with me , those things are still good the next day, cold right out of the refrigerator.

On my phone, so I can't see your location. I lived in Waynesville for a few years and even that far west, same crappy bbq that you just described.

I've tried every BBQ joint in Asheville, more than once. If you grew up eating just about any East Tennessee BBQ, none of it tastes good. Anymore if I end up at one of them, I end up eating smoked turkey or chicken :cray:

I'm sure I tried most of those also and get sad just thinking about it.
Lived in the giant city of Clyde :)
for a few years and would hang around Asheville.

I refuse to believe Tennessee fans are dumb enough to believe that's what CBJ thinks.
Sadly, though I wish u were right you are wrong. Nothing Butch has said is worth ridicule because he says thing that are true and fans should want your coach to think and live. Yup, I want our Vols to win every game. At the same time I would be much happier with a coach that wants to win but actually wants to do it the right way. Wants to respect the kids he guides and the university he brings them to.

I honestly think that most "fans" here do not care about anything but wins. I say that meaning we all want wins but wins at any cost? College football makes big money on the backs of kids who for the most part are lucky to be pumping gas once done. It is what it is. The fact that coach wants to build right makes me happy. Doing it right will take longer and might never happen but it lasts longer.

People make fun of Saban and Belichick accusing them of cheating and do forth. I have never been and never will be a fan on any level of either of those organizations. But I respect what those 2 men have done there. The patriots have always been an organization that puts character first, compared to other teams. Yes everytime one of their players does something offscript it makes the front page but the fact is it's rare. The guys that go through there are quality guys. Funny enough the same is sorta true for Bama under Sagan's tenure.

Think about it the sheer amount of scrutiny given those 2 organizations. There is very little actual dirt uncovered. If someone put as much focus on going after "name random other team that sucks" I guarantee they find more fires.

U am proud to have a coach not scared to tell the truth no matter how corny it sounds and mean it.

I challenge every "5 stars or nothing" hipster to watch the movie "Greater" about Brandon Burlsworth, the walk on at Arkansas who became an All-American. Have I seen it yet? No, but I don't mind a roster full of 4 star players either. :)

The rarest of the rare

Yes!!! lets depend on that to get us to a National Championship

Just throw out intangibles. Lets just do interviews to see if they want it

Lets just hope they are caught in a photo overlooking a lake. Thats when you know they have what it takes

When your trophy case looks like his you can afford to toss out a cliche every now and then.

And this gets to the real point. Is it a false statement but ok for Belichick to say because he has won so much or is it a true statement and Belichick's wins back it up? If it's a true statement then it doesn't matter who said it because that's how the truth works

Washington did it last year. Oregon did it in 2013. Talent matters, but after a couple years there isn't much difference in a 4* and a 3* if they both push themselves. If any of these kids had to start this year I would be freaking out with the rest of you, but between 18 and 21 of our starters will be upperclassmen

First off the correct spelling is Belichick , secondly Belichick is talking about character...... spy gate ,deflate gate. Go Falcons!

Thirdly, the correct placement of a comma is directly following the preceding word with no space and preceding a space prior to the word following.

It's not enough to compare our awesome head coach to the greatest college coach of all time with a straight face, now we're comparing him to the greatest NFL head coach of all time...

Wow.

Make a mountain out of a molehill again to continue your epic level ridiculous posts.

Yeah, that's the perfect response to all posts. Nevermind the stupidity of comparing anything Butch does to an all time great, just bash the people that tell you how dumb it sounds.

Epic.

This may be to date the longest and most well balanced argument I have ever read you make. Ha ha.

I would compare Butch more to Dan Quinn

After last nights collapse in the 4th quarter, I thought Butch was coaching the Falcons in the Super Bowl

If Butch had said that There would be 20 pages of pessimism. Just saying

Difference is: Bill saying something like that explains why they are a great team and NFL Champions. Butch says something like that it and comes across to fans like an excuse for being mediocre.

Yep. He could say pretty much whatever he wants and raise his hand to any rebuttal. Not that anyone would care to do so. Saban has that same clout. People care much less about what you say in the case of those 2 coaches opposed those no where neither their level.

At the end of the day success or lack thereof drives the reaction.

and yet CBB teams come across as great teams and NFL champions and CBJ teams come across as mediocre.
