I know. But I'm referring to what's bringing all the attention and mocking...the headlines and taglines used, the words actually being tweeted and printed, etc.

And that was my point. He compressed his thoughts into a quote he thought he would make a good soundbyte. Herman was speaking off the cuff and it didn't make a good headline quote or tweet.

The 247 guys said Butch said the same thing on signing day, but the didn't report on it. Then he said it 2-3 times at the signing day celebrations (ironically followed up by a video hyping the top 100 players they got), so they kind of had to report it.

For better or worse, it seems like Butch wanted that quote in headlines. Likely because he knows that recruits and their families don't see things quite the same as fans and pundits

Is it better to make a deep run in the NIT or be one and done in the tourney?

Obviously I'd rather be in tourney, but I mean what's best for the team going forward?

You always want the Big Dance. It's better for recruiting, perception, and I'm sure team psyche to meet goals. Just like the last Sweet 16 team that was one of the last four in, you never know when you'll get a great draw and catch lightning in a bottle.

Either would be a great accomplishment for this team though.

Absolutely. Today was super disappointing but overall we are still exceeding expectations. As long as we make NIT this season is a success imo

Interesting pattern with SEC east champions in past 9 years

2 more fans that swear they are embarrassed by the negative attention Butch brings on UT...
Then do everything in their power to make sure it stays in the spotlight. 'Realists'

I give them credit.

They truly believe their little Twitter echo chamber represents the fanbase as a whole.

Sadly, they're an absolute joke that reflects poorly on all of us.

Also x3

11, 9, and 8. They each require their own bedtime routines. Bedtime rodeo for the youngest where I chase her around the room, catch her and pretend to calf rope her (she still tries to escape even though I explained that her hands and ankles are bound with invisible rope). Then goodnight robot for the middle one. She has her own robot that she does back and we discuss the best tasting oil to drink as robots. The oldest gets good night sloth. That takes awhile because I immerse myself in the part.

I feel like Kirk Lazarus.

I have always respected you as a poster, but now, you're somewhere between Peyton Manning and Indiana Jones. :)

I have a son, just turning 13, then I have two girls, 10 and 6. Completely changed my life.

My routine is universal for the girls, a version of "Now I lay me down to sleep" + the Lord's prayer, then "Pats and Rubs" - several pats on back, then some back rubs, then a BIG squeeze. Then the girls get fish kisses, regular kisses, eskimo kisses, and usually butterfly kisses. Best part of my day.

Why would the SEC care? As long as Lexington is happy, they are happy.

I do think the SEC cares about its perception when it comes to basketball. If they did do something about the refs, it would get a lot of positive press and they could definitely spin it to show just how the conference is putting in resources to improve.

Who emerges as leaders on offense and defense in spring ball?

Who is going to surprise this spring?

John Kelly and Guantanamo on the O side in my opinion.

The D side is a little harder to call. They didn't really have a vocal on field leader with JRM on the side lines. DB was a quiet lead by example guy. It was mentioned that Labruzza was a natural leader but he has to earn his stripes yet. I'm thinking Kirkland is the natural choice but it is a guessing game for sure.

O = Jack Jones, John Kelly.

D = Gaulden, KP5

I am hoping a QB emerges on offense and leaves no doubt (1st INT and VN will want the other one).

Kirkland on D.

Byrd is my surprise player . Could be on O or D at this point.

Thanks you kindly. I applaud you as well. So many men don't realize that being a father requires more than putting food on the table and a roof over their heads. It doesn't take much. Just your time. I love giving my time to my kids and I applaud you for your fatherly actions as well. :hi:

I feel leaders on offense will be Guarantano (we hope) and J. Jennings.

I feel defensive leaders will be Khalil and Warrior. Those two breath fire out there and other guys will follow their intensity.

Warrior is like Jennings on the other side of the ball.

I like your Defensive Leaders choices. They could be very good ones.

I haven't seen KMACK as a leader type yet. A healthy Kirkland and Warrior would be my bet. Gaulden as well will be one.

I know what you mean but Khalil is a vocal leader as evidence by the great recruiting class he pulled. I think he takes over his junior year.

Being active on social media does not equate to being a leader on the field. As BB said, he needs to start by being dominant and leading by example.

I understand but most team leaders are vocal. Not sure Kirkland fits that much like Barnett and Sutton didn't either.
