It seems necessary. People on here tend to take themselves way too seriously. I wish Butch would stop with the ill timed cliches, but it could be worse. it definitely has been worse, starting in 2008.

I agree with you. It's crazy seeing posts explaining how we are the laughing stock of college football because of Butch and his cliches, and how it's not forgotten. Lol, because "we" won't stfu about it and "we" are so fawkin concerned with what everyone thinks that "we" have to shout out on top of the mountain that "we" think Butch is a pos too!

Lol...This is exactly what I'm talking about. Because I won't join in for the chorus of everything sucks, I'm somehow now carrying water for the staff.

I've stated plenty of times the areas where Butch drives me crazy??? Bring married to the HUNH; not having a solid o-line line by year 4; losing games he shouldn't; the slow starts etc etc. Believe me, I'm no huge fan of his. I just don't need to create things to validate my opinion.

There are plenty of reasons to criticize CBJ, why get petty and and bring up the 5* heart quote?

There will be plenty of petty people wanting to pick and pick over anything he says just to get a click or a like, why as a Loyal Vol Fan participate?

He is our coach for 2017 let "them" do all the picking while all of "us" realize that as the saying goes, "haters gonna hate".

I know no Vol fan hates the man, they just hate the losses.

Who was it that said this is the 1st time he has been embarrassed to be a Vol? Really? Over our HC coach recruiting individuals that have a 5* heart? If you weren't embarrassed by the loss to Vandy just a few months ago, but now you're embarrased over this. I just don't get that at all.

I didn't. But the question to me is why folks want to buy his clichés that are really nothing but excuses.

None of us have a vested interest in Jones' failure. The best possible thing we can hope for is that he somehow turns the corner. But until he does... he really needs to stop doing this. All he does is draw even more attention to his weaknesses.

Not me. I'm not embarrased to defend a Vol for recruiting high character players.

I was there when he said 5* heart(at least one of the times), there really is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about.

The Vandy loss, that was embarrassing, but only because Vandy has such a bad football team. And the SC was embarrassing because they have such a bad HC now.

Even if those high character players are less talented than the high character (or not) players that UF, UGA, Bama, et al are getting?

"High character" in this case sounds a lot like describing a blind date by saying she has a "great personality". Obviously... there are pretty girls with great personalities... but....

That was more a general comment about those who seem to never find the lowest rung to set the bar for Jones. This class is a relatively minor thing compared to some of the losses and other shortcomings.

The Vandy loss, that was embarrassing, but only because Vandy has such a bad football team. And the SC was embarrassing because they have such a bad HC now.

I get hung up on stars as bad as anyone on here, but the fact remains that it takes 4 and 5 * talent to compete with 4 and 5 * talent. Butch tries to put his "spin" on everything that is under par in his program. I like positive thinking, but let's not be devoid of reality. It's not Rocket Science. If you want to be where Ala, Clemson, Ohio St, and those guys are you have to at least recruit equal talent. Or you need to be the best player development guy there is in this league! Which............... let's not go there!! I'm not saying this recruiting class is a bust because I don't think it is. If you want to be Elite, don't make excuses!!!!!

VT was running all over us in the first half but kept fumbling all over the place. Similar to what we did vs A&M. Those two games can be looked as off-setting W's a L's. However we got very lucky vs App State and UGA, while SCjr and Vandy did not need luck to beat us. So our final regular season W-L record felt more like a 6-6 rather than 8-4.

If that's your overall point, then to be frank with you, your overall point is horse ****.

This board has just as many posters that do the exact opposite, posters like yourself. You have no problems listing every terrible mistake Jones has made or has done but rarely post one good thing about the team, it's players or staff.

At least Iam4UTalways is not posting the same drunk BS as many of the negative posters do or the same half assed one liners that Wylo posts. I wonder why I never see you multi quoting one of their posts. Are you just on a mission to "correct" anyone that's too positive for you but not anyone that's too negative?

Seriously, read the game day threads or any of the numerous drunk threads on game day that litter this board and then tell me how this board is full of sunshine pumpers.

Normal people with brains have the ability to not be so black and white. I can critique Jones on what I don't like without multi quoting every poster on the board who disagrees with me. You should be able to do the same.
