Let The 2017 Hype Begin

@Behr see what I mean by delusional or fantasy land? Through four years CBJ has yet to string together 4 consecutive quarters of football yet we are talking about 68 quarters of good football.

When someone says something dumb, patting them on the head and saying Bless your heart is not doing the person any favors. :)

Yea, I see it now. I don't know what I was thinking.

I also see you, and several others as a bunch of happy little walking hard-ons when it comes to your facts and logical evidence that Butch sucks and why he's gonna fail.

:)

Unbridled optimism. What's dumb about pointing out the facts? You may not like the way I count the O&W game(Having fun with fun stuff), but to point out that ALL we need to do is string together a large(68+) amount of great qtrs of football is an acknowledgement of the improvement that is needed between 120 and 121, then I don't know what else to post.

I didn't get it when you posted about thinking CBJ should get more time even tho you have a firn opinion that he has reached his ceiling and find it improbable that a team coached by him can win a NC or even the SEC or maybe even the east.

That's where we have drawn different opinions, I think due to how a CBJ coached team responded in the 2nd half against Florida shows that he can prepare a team and get them to execute winning football. There are a lot of examples throughout 120's season but that 2nd half is an easy example even tho the gators are a historically inferior program(not a big win since they were so weak).

The prize is a NC, as soon as I think CBJ is a lost cause at achieving that then it time for him to go(timing is everything) at the right time.

I don't think CBJ should be fired this year because of where the program was when he got here and where it is now. You have to be fair to him and give him a shot. He is a mediocre. Not sure if that is fact but I don't think its really debatable at this point. Maybe he hires coaches that cover and recruits to a level that covers up those deficiencies but I personally haven't seem anything to prove that is the case as of yet.

I view the Florida game differently. It was an exciting game sure. But we should have never had the deficit we had, which was what made the game as exciting as it was. What i saw was a coaching staff and team that was unprepared and outcoached that got out of the way in the second half and let our superior elite talent take over and win a game they should have won.

What i don't get is how stringing 2 quarters of football translates to putting together 68 quarters of football en route to an NC. Clearly you are one of those sunshine optimist and that cools if that's your thing. But you have to know that people are going to make fun of it, unless of course you have some logical backing behind them except stuff like Go Vols, that's why.

I don't really feel like hashing through all the problems the Vols faced this year, but to be they all boil down to CBJ has yet to show that he can manage an elite team through a competitive schedule and achieve or overachieve and play within the top echelon of college football. When it is very difficult to look back over 4 years of coaching and find 6-8 consecutive quarters of fundamentally sound football, its is highly unlikely that he will string together 68 quarters, especially with what i believe to be the biggest deficiency being the inability to develop talent.

Let the 2017 excuse train start warming up.

You guys wanna hype it now, but are quick to curse the rest of us for having "unrealistic" expectations after the inevitable losses..

I would rather expect wins and the deal with a loss when it happens than plan on a loss for 8+ months.

Too many forget the purpose of Vol football. Joy is the purpose not gloom and doom.

Cam said it best last year when he answered why he came back.

The purpose is winning.

I would argue the purpose of Vol football is for enjoyment and entertainment, winning would be the goal. IMO

Using comments and responses as logical and realistic evidence, there are many here that think we should just forfeit this season.

:dunno:

That's fair.

But pretending that losing is OK and being optimistic despite all evidence is just silly.

I don't think anyone is "okay" with losing.

I disagree that being optimistic is "silly". I won't argue that going undefeated and wining the NC is a little more than optimistic, and even silly, but how many people are there that actually expect that?

Just welcoming the inevitable future. I have zero faith in Butch Jones.

We'll complain after an ugly loss. The positive crew will rush in and talk about all the players missing and new coaches. Even though they spent the off-season slurping at everything Butch says.

It's gonna be a loud season, if nothing else. More voices than last year. Dark side is growing...

I know. Just for the life of me, I don't understand why it seems you, and a few others, seem to look forward to it.

But hey, you do your thang, and I'll be along shortly to do mine.:)

I look forward to the end of Butch Jones at Tennessee because I believe he will fail. Not because I want him to fail.

I'd love to be wrong, but I really think Butch hit his peak here at Tennessee.

That's the difference. I think better days are coming. Getting rid of Butch is needed to get there.

Do I look forward to Tennessee losing? Negative. Do I believe it's coming whether you or I want it? Yes.

Might as well look forward to the chance of a good coach.

I don't know Wylo.
Last season didn't leave me feeling confident we could win a championship with him, but he's going to be here next year.
I'll just hope that we catch the breaks and have a good season.

Even if you believe it's going to end soon.
Your post did sound like "we're all going to die one day so what's the point in enjoying living" lol

I kid I kid, I've pretty much got it memorized.:)

My point was, as long as you're gonna stick by all that mess, just be prepared to see me right behind you, giving you crap for giving everyone else crap.:good!:

Just to clarify, you believe CBJ WILL fail. I believe he has failed at aspects of his job along with he has had success at aspects of his job. Unless you have additional info than the rest of us you are drawing your opinion from the same pool of information, while I agree that he has a long row to hoe, it's not an impossible task and failure is not inevitable this year.

8 gimmies and 4 toss ups is not the makings of a failure of a year. If things go bust then yeah it could get ugly, but if things go well then it could be one for the record book.

From the limited inside info I have, CBJ was not the weak link of team 120.

We will all see how it turns out and maybe 2017 will be the year we get the answer one way of the other on CBJ.

Release the Beast!

Butch has been the weak link every year. Choke jobs galore. Internal problems and accusations. Blunder after blunder that cast a negative light. Idiotic sayings that many people mock openly. You keep lying to yourself. I'll be right here making sure that freak and Behr and you can't just sweep it under the rug like you've been doing.

You're kidding yourself if you think there are 8 "gimmies" on the 2017 schedule. Butch will be lucky to win 7 games.

He must have done something right to have all these opportunities to choke away, yet he is the weak link.

8 gimmies all but Fl, Ga, bama and LSU are gimmies those 4 are the toss ups.

How many and who do you have as gimmies?

Could you please give an honest explanation of how you consider teams that beat us the last time we played them to be gimme games next year?

With Butch Jones as coach, there are NO gimmies.

He doesn't beat up on overmatched competition.

He doesn't consistently beat the worst programs in the east.

He doesn't even win vs. the west. At all. Zero. None.

He doesn't come through with the stakes the highest. East on the line? Choke. Sugar bowl on the line? Choke.

Yeah, he's killing it. Yay us.
