I'm not sure I would call a 'good depth class' hypocrisy for having needed more depth. Almost seems to go together.
Immediate impact player means being a starter from the get-go. That's the exact opposite of late season backups.
Lot of spin in the wording of that post, should get you many likes on here.
I would take a team full of Bob Welton selected 3* over a team of Dooley 4*. Jelly was 3* and looked as good as Hurd (when he cared) and Kamara. As has been said several times, this class isn't optimal, but I doubt it is even remotely close to KY.
Based on what I saw the 2016 "depth" do against VU and SC, I'd say that wee need a hell of a lot more than more depth. We need guys who can play over what we currently have. We haven't got many of those kind of commits and just about every thread in this forum is trying to tamp down any expectation that we will get them.
l don't agree with this at all. Well, the second part anyway. Don't think Butch is fired regardless.
This level of recruiting is unlikely to win championships, and everyone knows it, including Butch.
You can whine about it, if that makes you feel better, or we can see how they develop and hope the next class is awesome.
One class will not make or break you, but two in a row gets troublesome real quick
What Bob Welton 3stars have turned out to be great players?
JKelly sure seems like he is heading that way but I can't think of any other consensus 3-stars that we would say were great players.
CV, I'll take what you posted at face value and clarify that my intent in my initial post was to state that it appears that we are backing up guys who couldn't win against the lowest level of competition in this conference with guys who are not ready to play in this conference and I question the sincerity of anyone who states that we're going to win conference championships following that sort formula.
Medley, Gaulden, Jashaun Robertson, Ethan Wolf, Chance Hall, Owen Williams, and Elliot Berry are the only ones other than Kelly that I can recall making serious contributions.
Hall, Robertson, Gaulden, and Wolf probably have the best chances of being "great." Owen Williams was 4 star caliber by the time he left.
Meanwhile, J. Lewis, Darrell Miller, Kyle Oliver, J. Bruce, V. Perry, T. Townsend, M. Sawyers, T. Paulk, Joe Henderson, V. Wharton, N. Creamer, and R. Raulerson have all left the program.
3 stars ain't where it's at.
*- Did not look at 2013 to avoid the debate over Dooley/Butch recruit.
It was pointless. You listed one guy tommake your whole argument. Hell, I was one of the leaders of the JK fan club in his thread. Who else? What's the point is comparing to Dooley?
