Aka lower rated guys, correct?

I feel like that's such a weak argument. Our roster is in such good shape that we don't need higher rated recruits that could push for immediate playing time? That's asinine.

Just call a spade a spade. This class is much weaker than expected because we failed to live up to expectations & Butch's message has gone stale.
The hypocrisy of some posters is unbelievable. They want to give Butch a pass for losses to SC and Vandy due to injuries and lack of depth and then they turn around and tell us that we're good across the board on starters and backups and we don't really need freshmen who can contribute. Nothing but irrational kneejerk apologists who cannot accept what's right in front of their noses IMO.

Name em catnip...go ahead and put your ass on the line. Name every committed player that is "poor by SEC standards". This is one of the dumbest posts you have ever made, and that is saying a lot. I don't think you are stupid, you know damn well this class is not bad. Disappointing because of the "best class ever" hype last year? Yes...it is. But the truly poor players have all been jettisoned, there is value in this class now, and with a little luck, even better next week.

Can't bone is a very immature basement dwelling person (Garth?)with a incredible amount of free time trying to become a mega-nega-vol insider.

I really am not sure your last paragraph is the case. We lost out on Higgins, Phillips, Stevens, and even Gibbs before the season started. That's concerning but had nothing to do with our season results. We weren't getting guys like Akers either. I thought wins would help, but I don't think that was the case now. We need to keep our 5 star instate players. Keep them and it's a top 5 class.

Too bad we won't ever know whether 10 or 11 wins and an SECCG appearance would've flipped any of those guys back to us because Butch pissed it away. If you want to give Butch a pass on lackluster recruiting due to his pissed poor coaching, fine. That doesn't mean everyone else will fall in line.

And Ignont, and Gray, and Crosby and I'd bet our 3 stars > theirs. Check the offers. Not all 3 stars are created equal

If we're only comparing 3 stars, theirs are actually higher rated than ours.

Of course if you watch the film of all their 3 stars I'm sure everyone would say they actually look like 3 stars.

Lol if we miss on Murphy and Ray, this class is absolutely disappointing... no ifs ands or buts about it. Frankly it's delusional to think otherwise if you ask me.

You don't win in the SEC with multiple classes with 20+ 3 stars like this year. Thats how you end up like Kentucky and will never be in the hunt to win championships like we should be.

We have 9 four stars on Rivals. Does that get thrown out the window?

I'm attempting to save everyone from hearing my opinion. It wouldn't go over well with a lot of people on here. I understand that, but if they insist upon continuing to bring politics into the RF, they will get it. Most of you who know me on here understand that I don't have a great filter when it comes to speaking my mind.

I'd prefer not be forced into a vacation from here, but I will accept it none the less if necessary. :hi:

Haha. I almost replied to that twice, but decided nothing good would come from it.

I would take a team full of Bob Welton selected 3* over a team of Dooley 4*. Jelly was 3* and looked as good as Hurd (when he cared) and Kamara. As has been said several times, this class isn't optimal, but I doubt it is even remotely close to KY.

Go back to the FF.

I dont see where the Welton under the radar guys are remarkably different than other teams' hit rates. Besides, that assumes he even prefers the 3*'s to the 4's.

Really? So why is it that other teams seem to start paying attention to the guys we offer?

The truth is that nobody on here has clue how he has any of our recruits rated. The only thing we know for certain is that they have claimed to not use any of the service ratings and that as of last year they felt they could start taking lower rated guys with high ceilings. Despite all the wailing around here, we won't know for a couple more seasons whether it was a good plan or not.

I mean, they have evaluation teams too. There are way too many variables to say that's definitively us being there first. Sure there are some examples like the Giles kid last year, but every staff should be able to point to examples like that.

You can also flip it and say our MO has been to cut a lot of early commits loose later on, which leads me to blame poor evaluating.

I'm not sure I would call a 'good depth class' hypocrisy for having needed more depth. Almost seems to go together.
Immediate impact player means being a starter from the get-go. That's the exact opposite of late season backups.

Lot of spin in the wording of that post, should get you many likes on here.
