I heard from a guy today who is a scout and is down at the Senior Bowl.
He says it is the same thing every year with Bama players.
They are not coached up or developed for the league.
They recruit well and out talent most everyone. But they are not developing these players for the NFL. Scouts must evealute them based on potential in NFL.
Says OJ Howard is a great example. He has no clue how to play the TE position in an NFL set. But he is just one heck of an athletic freak.
Just thought it was interesting.

I bet you love 3* projects and are happy with just a winning season and a bowl game too... to each his own. I prefer 10+ wins, a shot at the SEC championship and getting into the playoff...
Ha-Ha, this place is hilarious--- folks on here actually taking the time to try and justify and make a case why 3* are basically just as good as 4-5* by taking the wait and see and develop approach and weighing whether or not one may have a 4* grade on one service... SMH. 95% of the time, 4-5* are safer bets and a quicker return on investment if you have a descent coaching staff...
Sidenote---- AL has gotten to such a lopsided and bloated level, it is crazy to see 5* still go knowing they will be 2-3rd string starting off with the chance down the road to see the field over going to another competitive school where they could start day 1....
The scoop: "(Derek) Barnett generates a lot of discussion out on the road. He's physical and he's got great production, but some scouts just don't think he'll be able to translate those numbers to the pros because he's not very explosive off the ball. He won't overpower NFL tackles like he did in college." -- AFC North area scout on the Tennessee DE
