God bless you for going into to teaching. There are not enough good teachers out there today. My mother taught for her entire working life and was good at it. Teaching today is different than it was when she started. If you ever need some encouragement just let me know. I have kids in school and a good teacher can make all the difference to kids that are struggling or just need a little extra focus. Thank you again for your chosen career path!

Thanks for the support. I'm not gonna lie I enjoy teaching but the main reason is to become a coach. I don't know what it is but I have a lot of fun teaching and coaching.

Wrestling. Debating on whether I want to coach football or not. Football is year round now at the high school level

The whole concept was not to have concentrated power centers especially a federal government but most of their concern was to not have someone with the authority of a king such as King George. Way more complicated than a message board post.

Well, I am glad you like me at least, lol. A lot of things have changed in the last 200 years. Obviously the forefathers are not infallible, otherwise we'd still have slavery.

As circumstances throughout the country change, we should not be afraid to adapt. I personally believe the EC has outlived its usefulness and we should move to direct democracy in Presidential Elections. Let the will of the people be the deciding factor. There are still checks and balances - such as impeachment if the people make a gross error in judgment.

Where have I been? This place seems actually sane compared to ff and pf. Anyways, I've got 2 cousins that were homeschooled (mother was a M.D.) and college was an absolute disaster for them, even though they are both super smart book wise. The mother pretty much alienated herself from the family anyways, but she is a bit nuts to begin with. Her exact words were she didn't want her kids exposed to what goes on in schools.

I have 2 nieces that went to a private school that was super small, that have a little better social skills, but overall don't have a clue about real world problems.

My opinion is it boils down to how one teaches their kids and lets them have an open mind about different ideas, opinions, etc. Can't shelter kids from the big bad world forever.

I agree..that is how I handled my kids. They are all productive adults now, so I guess I did ok.
