I think it would be a bit much for an inauguration, but for Veteran's Day? I seem to recall a quote, "the nation that forgets its defenders will itself be forgotten."

The Army doesn't even let us drive tracked vehicles on the main dirt roads at NTC. What the hell made Trump think they were going to let soldiers drive tracked vehicles on the streets of Washington D.C.

There's a big difference between not forgetting your nation's veterans/troops and Soviet/Red China-style military parades.

Watch this video and replace the Chinese flag/colors with the Red, White, and Blue. Isn't that at least a little off-putting?

I agree with you. My issue is not with a missile parade; it's with Dear Leader thinking possibly (although I've heard it was some in his camp, not necessarily him) that one needs to be in his honor.

As a matter of ritual, however, I would like to see such. I think it would be good for building a communal sense of patriotism, without the gaudiness of football game flyovers. It would have actual pageantry and ritual, something sorely lacking in our society.

From what I'm hearing, and you can take that with as much weight as what Trump is hearing, this is going to most likely end in a treason charge for Flynn.

Treason is a very high bar with it including the possibility of a death sentence so that is why he won't be charged with treason. There has only been 13 people convicted of treason in the history of the US.
