The new AD could potentially be hiring 4 new coaches in the next 2-3 years.

Baseball (pretty obvious CDS is done)
Women's Basketball (doubt she makes it 2 more years)
Football (Doubt Butch is here after the 2018 season)
Men's Basketball (I look for Barnes to retire in 2 years)

The new AD will have a baseball hire to make, but the other three will be in place more than three years unless they leave on their own.

Because our cross country teams and volleyball and soccer did not make the NCAA tournaments, football was the only sport that scored.

The numbers are what they are, but I'm not going to judge the health of the athletic department based on cross country and women's soccer. Get back to be at the end of the school year.

Outside of Lady Vols softball what is there to look forward to in the spring?

The OP is highlighting something that has become very concerning to many lettermen. The All-Sports trophy was something we were in the hunt for, frequently competing with Florida for the top spot, under the leadership of Doug Dickey throughout the 90's. It's a good barometer of the health of the athletic department. Dismissing it out of hand is extremely short sighted.

I know since it's not exclusive to football many on here won't care, but this stuff matters.

Come now Boro-vol. It's much simpler to insinuate that the OP is dumb via thinly veiled insults, laugh about it, and call them a nega whatever. We wouldn't want to discuss the fact that our athletics programs as a whole are, indeed, slipping or that it matters now would we?

We don't have men's soccer. Our women's soccer team is getting better but did not make the NCAA tourney again. Our men's and women's cross-country teams were not good. And our women's volleyball team was not good and has not been good for years. Need a new volleyball coach--somebody who can recruit. In most sports which take seriously, the SEC is dog eat dog.

Your thinly veiled sarcasm aside, the Dickey Athletic Department was consistently top 5 in the all-sports trophy. Cherry pick and disparage all you like, he had the AD running like a well oiled machine during his tenure.

They were right about you. I see it now.

He cared about one sport. B-ball is the second biggest yet he tried to kill it with his handling. Brag about his excellence in CC all you want but it's simply not that important. He also didn't have to be judged by women's sports although they were doing pretty well at that time

Two sports truly matter. As PJ pointed out, Dickey failed miserably at one of them.

For the All-sports trophy, the subject of this thread, actually ALL SPORTS MATTER. It was in that aggregate where Dickey excelled, because he didn't have a myopic football-only view of his job.

No insult intended. I think you may have taken what I said too personally.

My apologies.

On the rest, we'll just have to agree that you believe you are right.

HW staying for over 3? She should step aside after the season is over.

She still thinks she can get it done. She won't step aside until she knows she can't. She is all Vol, and giving her all for Tennessee.

Some hafta to be fired to get them to leave, it's in there blood.

There is good and bad to being loyal.

We need to compete for championships in Underwater Basket Weaving.

Our BoT, Admin and AD needs to be totally rebuilt from top to bottom with the idea that to WIN and compete for a championship in all sports is the goal for every season.

No more excuses.

VFL...GBO!!!

It amuses me that some think of me as a troll and so many "fans" on here look to dump on Tennessee at every turn.

Some of these threads are trashing the 2017 football season and it is 8 months away.

This was posted in another forum. I don't understand why people never look at information and think about it before accepting it. Explains why the media is so powerful I guess.

But, you know damn well Tennessee is not the 113th best athletic program in the US and not dead last in the SEC either.

I know damn well Arkansas isn't the best athletic program in the SEC.

My guess is the methodology is kind of flawed

Our resident Gator is correct.
