Learfield Cup

To date, all nine fall NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women’s cross country – Oregon; men’s cross country – Northern Arizona; field hockey – Delaware; women’s soccer – USC; men’s soccer – Stanford; men’s water polo – California; women’s volleyball – Stanford; FCS football – James Madison; FBS football – Clemson.

And how many of these sports does UT compete in?

It kills me that we simply can't field a great sand lacrosse team. WTF has Hart been doing?

I think you're missing the point and that's the conference rank. How many SEC schools have a water polo team? None of these schools have an advantage over UT in any of the sports.

I don't think I missed the point of the thread. It's purpose was to point out how bad Vol athletics are. This thread will be a huge success.

I should have used blue font. I've got no beef against Stanford's Water Polo Team.

Last place means there is no place to go but up. It shows the importance of hiring a good athletic director.

The OP is highlighting something that has become very concerning to many lettermen. The All-Sports trophy was something we were in the hunt for, frequently competing with Florida for the top spot, under the leadership of Doug Dickey throughout the 90's. It's a good barometer of the health of the athletic department. Dismissing it out of hand is extremely short sighted.

I know since it's not exclusive to football many on here won't care, but this stuff matters.

Bashing or pointing out some disturbing facts?

Well the football team finished in the top 25, but the women's basketball team is not very good so unless he is willing to fire Holly Warlick nothing will change. The baseball team has been terrible for a while, Serrano is clearly not the answer but he was a good hire. The men's basketball is competitive just not very talented although I do think Barnes is a good coach. Not much will change unless the new AD is willing to invest a lot of money into a women's basketball coach and the baseball program. Track was a very solid program in the 90's but it has fallen on hard times. The new AD has a lot of decisions to make.

The new AD could potentially be hiring 4 new coaches in the next 2-3 years.

Baseball (pretty obvious CDS is done)
Women's Basketball (doubt she makes it 2 more years)
Football (Doubt Butch is here after the 2018 season)
Men's Basketball (I look for Barnes to retire in 2 years)

Because our cross country teams and volleyball and soccer did not make the NCAA tournaments, football was the only sport that scored.

The numbers are what they are, but I'm not going to judge the health of the athletic department based on cross country and women's soccer. Get back to be at the end of the school year.
