Larry Scott at OC might be what everyone secretly wants

I'm personally fine with Scott as OC. Jones isn't gonna hire a big name and I'm not certain that's what's needed anyway. Scott surely knows and is comfortable with the offense in year two. He just needs to be more aggressive and maybe a little more strategic with his play calls at crucial times, times when a first down or two puts the game away, than Debord tended to be. Just hope Jones goes hands off and lets him call the offense with some freedom.

There's a lot to it otherwise everybody would be one. Debord never got a rhythm and at times became predictable. Tennessee should have stepped on throats but embarrassing people isn't what some coaches are whether the fans agree or not.

So a guy that has been a head coach at the U and ended up having a winning record can't call plays at UT? He's put in his time. Calling plays for him would most likely be a very easy transition. This isn't some new guy that was DL coach at Alcoa last year lol. He can call plays at this point in his career.

Butch doesn't have a year for a new system install. Keep the system, and allow someone that understands it to call plays. The system works, just look at the stats. Let Scott make some changes as he sees fit, maybe with another CO-OC. I don't know why people want to fix something that isn't broken.

It's Volnation, it's what they do.

Larry Scott will do just fine as OC. Hire a QB coach and everything will be fine.

Scott's lack of experience calling plays might be a concern, but he is a well regarded coach that another school is going to offer sooner or later. I just hope whatever decision Butch goes with happens ASAP. Recruits committed or thinking of committing want to know who will be their coaches.

A guy who has never called offensive plays before? Sure, why not. While we are at it, lets get an ice cream vendor to coach the DL.

He was HC for the U, and ended up with a winning record! He is very highly thought of. We were lucky to land him. He is probably the best recruiter on our team, and I would put him up there with Shoop as far as coaching is concerned. Butch made a serious upgrade on his staff when he hired him. He can handle calling plays lol...

Provide anything that says he can handle it.

Did I ever mention coach Z as a candidate? He's lucky to still be WR coach imo. The original staff Butch had was a complete joke. Z turned it around this year, but I would be damned before giving him the keys to my O.
