We end GT's SEC East streak
Extend our streak against UF
Lose our streak against UGA
And end our drought against the west with a home W against LSU.

10-2 but miss championship again BC GA will hold tiebreaker.

I don't think 7-5 gets him fired and I don't think it should. I think he he's done a lot for this program but I also think he is a bit delusional. Used to I thought the stuff he said was coach speak and he didn't believe it. I don't think that way now, I think he believes it. I could understand the occasional slip of the tongue but when it keeps occuring, you have to believe he believes some of that stuff he says himself. If what LWSVol says is true that he thought he'd have a great year this year and that would launch him into an NFL head coaching position, that tells me the guy is seriously off his rocker.

He's going to have to get much better at managing egos off the field and exploiting matchups on the field to have any kind of shot at NFL success, IMO, JMO.

Hey mccrackb. You got any new material?

Yeah I give you some grief. Just get feed up listening to all this negativity. Truth of the matter is most these posters have never played a team sport since pee wee leagues. The closest they have come is playing some tactical combat game with headset on. Go Vols

I don't think we should, but I think the university is fine with it. Athletics is being deemphasized IMO. It will take a half empty Neyland again to change it. As long as there are winning seasons and bowls it will stay as is because much of the fan base will still support it.

That's exactly what I've been saying. They have for some time taken advantage of the loyalty of Tennessee fans. That's also why we'll never hire a big time head coach. There is financially no.reason to. They can bring in some no name and the fans will get on board for at least three years and they may occasionally catch lightening in a bottle.

You seem closer to the program than most of us. If this is true and we are not really trying to compete and be a top ten team, than what is the point of following the dinosaur that use to be near the top. We are dying as a program than with our best years behind us. I love Tennessee football as much as anyone but my money and time can be spent elsewhere if we will be middle of the pack or worse from now on. It would kill me to give up Tennessee sports as I have been a lifetime fan but I can not accept that we are doomed to mediocrity.

In your opinion, is it DiP, Chancellor or BOT or all the above that is the driver? I tend to think it has become the culture n started with the numerous turnover in presidents.

Yep - that's the way it has been. There are no Boling's, Johnson's, or Dickey's riding herd over things now. It's mostly about the money and if the product works out - fine. If not they can sell the hype for a few years until it is time to make some kind of change to help people become hopeful again. It may be a HC, it may be an AD, it may be coordinators - whatever.

Johnson retired in 1999, Dickey in 2002. What has happened since then is not what we want, but it's what they can get by with apparently.

I have heard it and it is also on his wiki page. If it is incorrect than I certainly apologize and I will defer to you since you live nearby. It is out there though that it happened that way.

Just read the Wiki page. No need to apologize, but that red flag isn't justified.

Add Bob Woodruff and Gus Manning as well to this list. They bled orange. Woodruff retired in 1985. I think Dickey replaced him if I remember right. We were strong under Woodruff in many sports under his tenure.

Haha I'm one of those. Broke my neck several years ago and have been afraid of contact sports sense.

That's cool. So since you live near there do you think Canales is what we should be looking for in a QB coach?

I don't think he's this unknown brilliant talent waiting to be discovered. He's done commendable work at this level. I'd be waiting and seeing with the rest of us if the nod goes to him.

I've never found the "who will we get that's better" argument to be persuasive in the least. There will be someone paid very handsomely to make that decision- and there are several out there that are capable.

CBJ is capable. Apparently he isnt good enough. To appease these heathens you need to upgrade. Good luck I still havent seen a realistic list of candidates.

Still nothing officially released by Tennessee, but another sign that Rock Gullickson will be on the job this week is that his coaching locker has been set up.

I don't think the official release is coming tonight, but I think it could come tomorrow.

Again, nothing new as we have all understood for a while that Gullickson was going to be the head S&C coach at Tennessee.

Rob Lewis just posted this on VQ...

In talking to different kids at the NPA event in Nashville, it's worth noting that Walt Wells was brought up by several prospects when we asked them who they have a good relationship with at Tennessee. Wells has worked Nashville for a long time at different stops since he is a native of the area.

I think the gamecocks are hiring someone else as their OL coach, a position Wells interviewed for. Reading the tea leaves...sounds like Walt Wells likely replaces Mahoney after NSD.

Honestly it's unrealistic to expect a viable list of candidates. Too many variables unknown to us in the great unwashed.
