Not well. But Freeze is extremely overrated, so I wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt.

How do you come up with Freeze being overrated? He is underrated if anything. Dude is a winner at every program he coaches at regardless of level. HS, NAIA, D1. Ole miss has consistently beat Bama under him and it hasn't been fluke wins. He has recruited at higher level than ole mIss ever has(thanks to shenigans yes but still).

At same time if true he is a moron for hiring Trooper Tayor with NCAA on his tail.

We get it. But it's not as black and white as you want it to be.

Wonder what you would say if Butch had lost to Memphis?

Fulmer, Cutcliffe, and Manning lost to Memphis in the middle of going 45-5 in Manning's career.....

CBJ hasn't beaten ANY TEAM from the SEC West--and I've got idiots on here telling me how the superiority of the West is just a myth this year.....

Is it too much to expect the Head Coach at the Univ. of Tenn. to WIN just ONE GAME against an opponent from the SEC West in 4 YEARS???????

Until Jones does that and wins the East he's just another Jim Donnan here at UT as a place-holder until we get someone who can actually compete on the field in the SEC for championships.....

There's enough work now to give a decent evaluation of CBJ.....IMO he must go undefeated in the East to get to Atlanta next year or he needs to go......

You guys can disagree all you want.....but the evidence is on my side.....and before you open your traps to spew another bunch of crap.....Just beat ONE SEC WEST TEAM JONES.....JUST ONE PLEASE!!!!!

So? I didn't say that was good.

Just that Hugh definitely lost some status this year. We will see how Lynch turns out but doesn't mean anything when you are merely drafted. Hugh had a probable pro QB in Kelly along with Treadwell, Nkemdiche (did get hurt in the game), Evan Engram, and the list goes on.

You asked how would that be received here... so yes. We had a worse scenario

SMH......

I did both some research and watched every game Dobbs played....and that USCe game his SR. year was not any better than any game he played as a FR---with a massive QBR of 11!!!

App State 26
VT 66
Ohio 68
Fla 55
Uga 74
aTm 44
USCe 11
KY 96
Mizz 100
Vandy 80
Neb 90

threw out Bama and Tenn Tech.....

That's NOT VERY GOOD for a SR QB in the SEC by anyone's estimation....

And no....he won't be a QB in the NFL...

Per the NCAA formula, Dobbs' passing efficiency was below 115 in just 2 games: Bama & SC. Against FBS opponents only, he was 25th nationally and 1st in the SEC w/ a rating of 145.43.

True

I know, just felt offense looked good, Nebraska game, but lost to Vandy, so I guess I forgot offense was good in Vandy game.

I assume Debord let Butch know ahead of time he was looking to leave (which I never heard him say why left), so Butch started letting Scott tinker with it?
Offense was good in first half of vandy game, awful in second half. Defense was putrid the whole game.

I haven't noticed this MikeVol character before, he must have ventured over from the FF. Entertaining fella. Right up there with D4H.

Re: defense had a great 2 quarters vs UF. They also had a very good 3 quarters vs VT.

The NFL will be much more interesting next year. Going to be a lot of new Vols playing. I'd love to see Dobbs have a Dak Prescott impact on a team after getting picked up in a late round or as an UDFA.

If he were at Tennessee and had the type of year that he just had, everyone on this board would be running him out of town. He's 39-25 at Ole Miss, Jones is 30-21 at UT, both have SEC records just below .500. The one head to head match up early in Jones's tenure and the two wins vs. Bama are literally the only things he's got on Jones (he and Sumlin have gotten a lot of mileage out of those wins, and I'd argue that both of their seats would be a lot hotter this year if those wins had come against anybody else).

No, Freeze is not a garbage coach but he is not significantly better than Jones either. The Pennington segment did have a lot of truth to it; it's all about perspective.

Lol he is doing that at a way worse program

Shoop wasn't. That was a good hire by Butch. I was talking about the last time we hired an OC.

Even at that, offense or DeBord hasn't been the problem. Game in and game out, we score enough points to win. Could a series or quarter be called better? Sure and hopefully the new OC can minimize that.

Now that it seems Rock has been hired, allowing Shoop to hire his own assistant coaches are the next most important hires, IMO.

Historically, yes, but that is... history.

Jones followed 1 year of Kiffin that ended in burned mattresses in the street and 3 years under Dooley. Freeze followed Orgeron and Nutt, and while no one is going to mistake either of them for Saban, they didn't exactly leave the cupboard bare either. Again, it's all about perspective.

7-17 is pretty bare ( 2 years prior to Freeze). They won with his recruiting.

Oregeron and Nutt RECRUITED well. That 36 man class by Nutt inspired the 25 man limit. They didn't have the relatively nonathletic slow baseline where our kicker is outrunning the fastest DB on pro day.
