Vehemently disagree. Michigan is one of the top research universities in the world. It's never stopped them from being a great athletic school. Research brings money to the school and with ORNL at our doorstep, there is a ton of money available for the university to make.

Didn't say anything about athletics. I definitely agree that a school can be great both academically and athletically. I have no problem using ORNL, and I understand that research is a part of learning. IMO, however, some schools have turned their focus to research, research, research and making money and gone away from its true focus, which should be educating its students. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like academia is turning away from the real world, and young people are getting degrees and have no idea how to make it. It shouldn't be political either, but it always seems the "research" institutions are more on the liberal side.

Liked for the assumed blue font. Also choosing to side with SSVol as opposed to LA Vol on this AD discussion. LA Vol is hard-driving a narrative with no support - just an echo-chamber of LA Vol quotes.

Agreed. The truth is, nothing happened today. We can all read all the tea leaves we want. When the thing we think we predicted happens we'll all be mad, yet slightly satisfied we felt like we were ahead of the curve. If the thing that we don't expect to happen happens, we'll just be like woah! Can't believe that happened and then look around like "who knew that was gonna happen?" In the end, what will happen will happen and we won't be right either way.

These media folks keep saying things just to keep people thinking about it all so they'll keep reading their articles and listening to their podcasts. Clicks and dollars.

What if Sheriron is the starter next year after all?

My mind is blank... Did Alexis Johnson play much this year?? Did he redshirt? I feel like he played some but I might just be getting him confused with Picou.

i just don't understand how people just sit back and let this stuff go on. How come the big boosters don't speak up?

If all of this is true and we continue to hire non-UT people then they will destroy what took so long to build.

It's almost as if they are ok with being just "Ok". Look at the women's bb program, it's almost mediocre at this point. The softball team is above average, and I remember when TN swim teams were very good.

We have the potential to have one of the best Ad depts in the country and yet they find ways to screw the pooch.

Big boosters don't give a damn about college football. They give for one main reason. Taxes. Yeah some of them may give to their department but most just give so they can wright it off

Man you are wrong at least about some of the big boosters. The ones I know are huge fans.

It's not. You can bet money someone on the inside and/or a booster (actually more like a corps of someones) has been gunking this up from the start. This could've been taken care of before Davenport was even hired. Players inside are the ones dragging this out and they'll continue to do so until everyone else caves. Someone doesn't like Blackburn personally and it shows big time.

Personal agendas of a few can certainly mess things up for the rest, especially when the latter is unable or unwilling to exert control over the former.

Morom is a real word. Google it and get back to me. Sounds me irony back at you. :)

What does morom have to do with mororn? I gots the confused for sure now. Initially thought you were tired of being a moran and wanted to switch to mororn.

Hey guys... so yeah, I pretty much hate this place. 48 hours ago, we had Helfrich and Blackburn. Now, Helfrich is out, and Davenport is probably searching for the AD's at UAB and Hofstra who let football die on their watches.

I'm completely done with Volnation, and taking a break. You aren't going to hear from me for a long time.

...Probably around lunch.
