Any chance Scott called some plays last few games as a test since Hubbs said Butch already knew Debord was retiring? Test run?

They want to turn UT into Vanderbilt.

I'm afraid that you are going to end up being correct. This admin seems to be content with being middle of the pack at best and pouring what money they have into academics, while not realizing that athletics isn't going to be the cash cow they want it to be unless they decide to put money into them.

What I think they fail to realize is I know a lot of people that go to TN just because it's TN

I have had this discussion with my father in law regarding the annual tuition hikes. He wants to know where all of the money goes. What are our institutions of higher learning doing with the money?

I have always felt that career academics are in their own world. They don't understand the real world, and it seems to get worse.

I said it just a few weeks ago, but UT does not need to become a high level "research institution." Yes, research is part of learning, but the school was created to educate its residents to prepare them for the real world. We can leave the research to the schools out west.

Vehemently disagree. Michigan is one of the top research universities in the world. It's never stopped them from being a great athletic school. Research brings money to the school and with ORNL at our doorstep, there is a ton of money available for the university to make.

He did have a hand in the game plan for the bowl game.

I don't know if he actually called a play but his influence was noticed

Springbokvol, weren't you pretty confident Blackburn would be hired? What the crap has happened since then? Is this Davenport wanting to assert herself or some other idiots/boosters screwing this up? My goodness, it has been known for months that Hart was out- yet here we are. And for that matter, if Hart isn't "allowed" to do anything right now as AD and is just taking up space, then why is he still there- go ahead and leave. Why stay until the end of June? Yet another ridiculous move by the admin!

Yes. Still am. Nothing has changed yet IMO.

Some clouds are much clearer. Come on.

Proven OC v new OC. We aren't in a position for could be.

Reminds me of Dooley's last year. These guys don't want to leave a stable spot for what could be a one year deal. I'm betting Butch is finding the sell to be harder than he thought.

The powers that be are into hiring people they can control. They aren't into winning.

Sick of UT Admin. Such a joke.

By the way, VolGee, I agree with your post quoted above. I couldn't find it to quote it. Academia people are out of touch loons. Very smart but couldn't stick their thumb up their butts in a room full of mirrors.

I made a comment in jest a few weeks ago but now I'm making it more seriously. If we, as fans, want our voices hear by this administration then we need to call in on National sports radio, like finebaum, and sign a petition. This is literally the only way for this people to understand that they are being idiots about the AD hire.

No, what needs to happen is 100s of donors, large and small need to email the Depitro and tell him if you want my $500, $1000, $5000 etc donation, act like a functional institution and hire David Blackburn as our AD. I mean now it's a bad thing to be a Tennesseean when it comes to getting a job at the state's flagship university. Money is the only thing that makes these academic mororns take notice.

I could get pretty fired up about a Larry Scott co-OC/TE or co-OC/OL and Ken Dorsey co-OC/QB combo. Especially if they're just going to be running Jones's offense regardless of who it is. Would be better than bringing in an established OC and having him run the existing offense instead of letting him bring his own IMO.

And I'm no Cam Newton fan, but Dorsey being able to say he was Newton's QB coach in the NFL for 4 years would hold lots of sway with recruits.

If we did promote Scott or hire any other OC that doesn't have QB coaching experience, who would everyone's choice be for QB coach?

I'm all for either Dorsey and Weinke personally.

Weinke is already an honorary VFL imo since he didn't play in the Fiesta bowl. Was healthy and just loved the VOLS so he didn't play.

Yeah, mororns.
That's a word... in India.

Edit, should have read further.
Now I'm the mororn. Son of a...
