One thing this does prove if true is that Butch will be able to hire whoever he wants without an AD, right? There's no way they wait until after spring ball to hire new position coaches, IMO.

Yes, I just saw that.. and to add:

Jubran said he would serve on search committee if asked. He said he hopes UT gets AD `who can match all the good things Dave Hart did.'

I'm cool with that. NC State total defense was 24th in the nation and 12th in passing yards against. He had to have had a hand in those statistics no matter how small or big. If shoop wants him, I believe in him.

It could just mean that Larry Scott is a fast rising coach in this industry and Butch thinks he's the best option. That's not that crazy. He really might be. Hiring him last year was a great move at the time and I was surprised he took the position just to coach TE's. It's possible this has been the plan all along with him.

I will not get bent out of shape over this one. If Barlow is Shoop's guy, I can ride with it and he has got to be an improvement over Martinez. I do also think that Terry Fair would be awesome here, but I am biased as I loved to watch him as a player.

Can I give this multiple likes... black cloud continues to grow. As InVOL and others have said, as long as the fans continue to fill the stadium, UT sees no reason to change.

If Larry Scott is promoted to OC, that would open up ST coordinator position as he is also the TE coach.

I'm thinking Scott as OC/TE coach. That would be good for making the TE a more focal point of the offense.

That would open up the ST position, why not bring Terry Fair on as ST position/recruiting coordinator?

Larry Scott is also a former offensive lineman, so he would probably be great at overlooking that unit. I'm sure he could easily coach either position.

So Scott could feasibly be the OC/OL coach. Let Z keep WRs and give him the STC duties. Then you are only left needing to bring in a TE coach and that wouldn't be as big of a search since Scott knows the TE position and would have ultimate oversight.

Edit: We would still need a QB coach. That should be a more difficult search unless Peyton is ready to enter the coaching ranks. This would also solve QB recruiting.
