I understand why Scott and Azzanni are on 247's list of candidates for OC. I wouldn't take a chance with either. Neither have noteworthy OC experience (Azzanni for one year at WKU). I'm all for keeping each one, but not under the circumstances that they would have to get the OC job.

Lincoln Riley would be a good hire. Kinda skeptical on Helfrich and his QB coaching abilities. He had no one developed after Mariota left. relying on grad transfers was one of the reasons he got fired.

I'm assuming you have insider information and Helfrich has been hired. Boom

Butch needs to get a proven OC. If he doesn't win in 2017 he's out. Period. He can't risk it promoting someone who has very little experience calling plays. If Azzani wants to be an OC, he needs to take a job somewhere else. Same is true of Scott and Gillespie. I don't want to lose those guys, but we shouldn't be offering first time guys jobs at OC in a critical year like this.

Now the coaching search becomes interesting. If Helfrich is in fact the OC hire, will he want to bring in "his" assistant coaches? There were rumors of dissention within the defensive staff, and that would lead to changes after the season. One would assume that Helfrich would want the same for the offensive staff.

I wouldn't think so. Our offensive staff is pretty stout. Hard to find better coaches at their positions than Scott and Gillespie.
