Real money is the second contact regardless. If he's good enough he'll get paid either way, but he'll get there faster leaving this year. No way I come back if I'm him with a new QB and and probably OC.

100% agree. Time for him to go if I'm thinking about what's best for him.

For 2017...

I'll go 10-2. Or 9-3

Only probable loss I see at this point is at bama.

There are several games that could go either way, but I think we'll be favored in most of them (probably all except maybe UGA and LSU, and both of those are in Neyland). But I'm sure we'll drop at least one of them along the way.

If we either get decimated by injuries like this year or end up dropping an early game in embarrassing fashion to GT or FL , then all bets are off. Could be a long season if one or both of those happen.

Exactly where I have it. Another 9-4 would be worthy of an extension to Butch IMO. Anything better than that he needs to make bank.

Hope to be pleasantly surprised. The positives for doing better are I think the O-line will dominate next season if our play calling reflects it. I think Chandler can be worked into it with Kelly early. Still have talent at WR and TE, so a simpler passing game could still work despite the QB inexperience. The healing of D players will help along with a full conversion to Shoop's scheme. That can be huge because opponents will not be able to get a handle on it until later in the season. ST should be strong with all the experience coming back.

Hiring a big time S&C guy is mandatory.

Yep, gotta let Shoop do things 100% his way. I'm still going to be really nervous about DT. We'll add KMAC, AJ is an unknown right now, and Shy may never be the same player he was. I think the offense will be fine even with the lost production.

No were not. just Barnett. 7-5? Jesus... then we are losing our coach for 2018 too.

We're also losing Corey Vereen and LaTroy Lewis. Shy Tuttle may not be ready to go. Then look at our secondary.

Losing playmakers and replacing them with less experienced talent on both sides of the ball generally has an effect... and our schedule is frontloaded. We have GT, UF and UGA in the first month while breaking in a new QB. So yeah, the losses can mount quickly while new players adjust. I can see 7-5 plus/minus 1.

LSU could potentially be nasty with Matt Canada at OC.

I'm all for moving on. I wanna put it behind us too. I'm super excited to see what our staff shake up looks like and what Butch can do with Blackburn as his AD.

But I'm not gonna NOT call out people who justify those losses and try to brush them under the rug just because they don't want to think uncomfortable thoughts.

If you want a safe-space echo chamber where nobody is allowed to acknowledge that some bad things happened this season and some of it was totally avoidable, then go start your own message board.

I guess you answered the question? You're not going to let it go, are you? Got to have the last say and as per usual it's negative..

GT is going to go 3-0 vs the SEC East, and they will play us to start 2017 for a chance at another win to start 2017.

If he gets drafted 5th round or worse, there is no guaranteed contract(unless they changed this). If he's not a finished product and gets cut, that's it. Second contract isnt even a conversation. Look at North right now. One more year of tape can get him paid double per year and a guaranteed contract.

I'd just hate to see that happen to him.

15-0.

Helfrich is hired for OC/QB coach, JG wins the QB job and is surrounded by play makers who are no longer handcuffed at times. Jennings shines as the #1 WR and has more yards, catches and TD's than any WR in the SEC. CMH is able to get the most out of his players and they are explosive on offense, more so than we've ever seen on the hill. The backfield of Kelly, CFA and Chandler is too much for any front 7 to handle. It's incredible to watch. The OL mauls every single DL they face on every single snap. By the start of the 4th Q defenses are so worn down you can see the quit in their eyes, their fans eyes and their coaches eyes.

Defensively Strip stays on in admin role, Hoke takes his DL position, Fair takes the CB job and Shoop's boys take a giant step forward with a fully healthy roster. Guys like Taylor, Phillips and Kongbo come alive in the absence of Barnett, Vereen and Lewis. McKenzie and Tuttle are back at 100% and DOMINATE the middle. TKjr, Gaulden, DK and McDowell are bigger, stronger and faster. T Fair gets his CB's playing out of their minds, it's a thing of beauty.

Most importantly Butch hires an NFL veteran S&C coach who makes all the difference in the world, the team is in better football shape than any other roster in the conference. No significant injuries except to our opponents bodies and minds.

Butch is given an extension and a healthy raise, the '18 recruiting class closes with a bang, six 5 stars and at #1 in the nation on all 4 recruiting sites and the '19 class already has a handful of elite players on board.

Happy New Year, VN!

Being constantly reminded how bad our D was in these bowl games. KY with 147 yards and 3 points at halftime.

Gee one day after going 9-4 (not happy about it but it is what it is) and the negative vibes are flowing already (not just this one and not signaling you out) but this place is pathetic at times and maybe all the surveys of the crappiest social media school may not be to far off. I am sure if parents of recruits or any recruit that comes in here probably get a good laugh at this crap and may have them reconsider what they are getting into. Jmo

Secondary is the same across the board. Cam Sutton was out most of the year. You said we will lose our production, Shy Tuttle is and will be on the team and plugging him into the "lost player" is a falsification to help you feel better about your woe is me narrative.

We lose the sacks but not "most" with tackling. Here are some numbers.

I have no idea what to expect next season. I do know for a fact we are losing two of our best all time players. That is going to be hard to replace. I think 7-5 is the floor, and 9-3 is the ceiling.

Dobbs finished the year with 3,777 yards of total offense. That is 18 yards short of the school record, held by Peyton in 1997.

Y'all read that twice, and let it sink in a bit.

Going to miss Dobbs a ton :hi:

Nick not saying much but they did say that after Manning. That year we lost a great de in Little, a great qb in Manning, a great db in Fair and a great wr in Nash. Sounds a lot like this years class leaving.

Shy is a complete unknown right now. He's missed every full off season workout. Strength-wise he'll be way behind, and he may never be the same player he was after two serious lower body injuries. It makes no sense to just assume he'll be a significant contributor at this point.
