Part of me would love to see Shoop bring in all guys of his own choosing and I do think our LB development hasn't been up to snuff, but I do worry about being able to replace Thigpen on the recruiting trail.

Besides Butch, our staff isn't really stacked with great recruiters.

Thig is allegedly a liability in mid-state recruiting, and has not been as effective as his first year in general. Butch knows how important recruiting is at Tennessee and I think this season revealed player development deficiencies when we had to go deep into the depth chart.

Go find the full package. People like money. Open it up and let's go

Im not sure it's that simple, but I hope this is what happens. Shoop's right hand man at VU and PSU was his LB coach.

Thig definitely hasn't done as well on the trail the last two classes. But neither have the rest of the staff.

I'm really torn on how I feel about him. I definitely think we could do better, but I'm not sure replacing all of our defensive assistants is a great move either.

I guess I like mediocre. We have won three bowls (how long?) Butch has turned the roster, we have beat Florida/Georgia in the same year and we are ranked.

I swore I would never take this for granted again, and I am not.

Yes, I would have preferred the SEC championship and the Sugar bowl. I do have enough sense to know half of our team was injured and it does change things. (Teams lose against bad teams for far lesser reasons) Dobbs had a horrible game during SC and he felt it was on him because he was studying for a major test at 2:00 in the morning. ( Imagine that? Our quarterback was doing school work.)

I'm supporting our coach. Hopefully we get Blackburn and needed coaching changes. (Strength and conditioning a must)

Yes sir (or ma'am)! :salute:

Butch knows he made some bad decisions last offseason and in fall camp. He corrected one of them in bowl practices by having more physical practices. It showed yesterday. Now, let's see if he can correct the rest of the issues we have.

welp, big 10 still sucks

2 days ago there were clowns arguing with me that they were the best conference because they had 4 teams rated in the top 10.

I will never get why people fall for poll rankings based largely on beating up scrubs in your conference.

Whenever Big 10 teams play ACC or SEC teams with speed like Florida State or Tennessee, they get exposed. This year is no different.

To be fair though, Michigan gave FSU one hell of a game. FSU obviously had more NFL talent on the field, but Michigan took it to them.

I will be shocked if he doesn't declare.

He will just prove to be that much dumber if he doesn't.

Quitting on your team midseason was stupid.

I wouldn't put it past him to make another dumb decision.

Hurd is a flawed kid. Its just sad because he has so much natural talent.

I agree with Penn State and Michigan but Ohio State is stacked and Wisconsin beat a full strength LSU to start the year.

That being said, your prognosis appears accurate so far.

Dobbs' 2016 stats:

Passing: 2,946 yards, 27 TDs, 12 INTs
Rushing: 831 yards (gain of 1,093), 12 TD

He balled out this year.

If Kamara and Jennings don't drop sure TDs, Dobbs finishes the year with 3000+ yards passing, 1,000+ yards rushing (minus the sack yardage), and 42 total TDs.

Still a hell of a year.

Dobbs finished the year with 3,777 yards of total offense. That is 18 yards short of the school record, held by Peyton in 1997.

Y'all read that twice, and let it sink in a bit.

Going to miss Dobbs a ton :hi:

He also had 40 total TDs on the season.

I wonder where that ranks in the record book?

I think our DBs regressed this year---as much as I appreciate Willie's work we took a step back. We did not play the ball very well in the air yesterday.

I know we had no choice his Freshman year, with everyone down, but if Dobbs only could have kept his redshirt that first season, could you imagine what he could do next year?

We would be SEC East favorites once again in 2017 and Dobbs would be a heisman contender.

But I like the fact we'll be starting anew next season. I think that will help us. Less expectations can be good.

Plus I think Guarantano is even more talented than Dobbs. I don't know if he has Dobbs intangibles but in terms of physical tools, JG is about as good as it gets. I think he picks up right where Josh left off.

I'm optimistic about 2017. We have a good chance to be SEC East champs.
