So multi-millionaire Mark Helfrich bought a Thursday (or earlier) flight to Nashville when the Titans play on Sunday, then decided to make the trip anyway despite Mariota not playing AND not even being in Nashville (since his surgery was in Charlotte yesterday). And then he just so happened to stop by the practice of a team with a rumored OC opening that he has also been linked to for several weeks.

Non-refundable tickets?

Better chance Kamara goes in the 1st round than he does the 4th round.

The guy is a pro bowl NFL RB.

We know that every player you like is a top ten pick first ballot hall of gamer, dude.

But Kamara won't go round one unless he breaks a boatload of combine records. And I'm not sure his top end speed will be elite. His 40 should be good, but I don't see him being a sub 4.4 guy or anything like that.

Excellent... 🤔

lol. Along with having a beautiful mind.

Do you think Butch has called plays? I'm sure he has input and again, I have little problem with our offense.

I distinctly remember the timeout at the end of the UF game, and they put the microphone in the UT huddle. Azzani had taken his headphones off, and Butch turns to Azzani and says something. Then you can clearly hear Azzani say "Mike, Mike" as he grabs his headset. To me, that showed that Debord was calling the plays. I have no doubt that Butch has input, but they weren't looking at Butch for the actual play call.

Really good point.

That's the way it should be.

Haha Hubbs backtracking on trying to shut down the fun...in the war room recently it said Helfrich and Butch don't know each other but Hubbs post just said they do. His response to that...

That's what was told to me, but obviously, I was mislead on that. Clearly they know each other.

I'm not saying Helfrich isn't a possibility to join the staff. I just don't think his visit today means he is. But look Butch had him at practice today so obviously that is and should fuel plenty of speculation.

Also, this time of year last year was when Butch interviewed Larry Scott.

Hubbs is just relaying what he's been spoon fed by the UT AD and saying what they want him to in case things go south with Helfrich.

Probably right but I would much rather turn the play calling over to Helfrich (if he is hired lol) hire a top OL coach and let Debord focus on game planning, etc.

I called that scenario a month ago. Would address a lot of issues.

Yeah, VQ is borderline worthless now. They need a big hire to stay relevant after losing Brice and Fort.

I used to love the War Room, but 247 started pushing those mini stories throughout the week, which forced VQ to put out info daily as well. Then Fortenberry started his weekly chats, which were very informative when it came to updates on the team and recruiting. Now he's gone.

Them being state-run media doesn't help their cause...although I don't like the idea of supporting 247 either, as they seem to have an agenda against the program right now.

While Hubbs hedges a lot, the fact that he works for the university gives him a leg up on everyone else. He keeps his word, and I believe people trust him. Brent had made plenty of money over the years, and I think he will be alright.

Talk of helfrich...coming onboard maybe ...no ad still to do a contract for new coaches...still waiting !!!!! Hyams may be right ad hire in February

I think this Helfrich smoke shows that he's interested, but that he wanted to look at personnel before committing to anything. He knows his reputation took a shot, but he's still a big enough name that he can afford to wait a year if the right situation never comes up.

That hit during the okst vs CO game should be a penalty. The CO player is defenseless there. If you want pure player safety, make the offense have the same regulations as the defense.

VQ hasn't had the inside track on stuff for a while. I think getting spoon fed by the AD has handcuffed them a bit whereas 247 has greater freedom to report (which can backfire as seen by the Haney article).

I was on VQ for a long time but haven't been on in about 5 years. I still think Hubbs can get confirmation of news before most everyone else.

On certain things, yeah. But I think people are getting sick of the "smokescreen" act and the way they either dance around issues or completely avoid them for hours or even days at a time. Will likely only get worse with Fort leaving.

Of course he can get it fast.

But if the the AD doesn't want him to report or confirm something he's SOL.
