Probably right but I would much rather turn the play calling over to Helfrich (if he is hired lol) hire a top OL coach and let Debord focus on game planning, etc.

Do you think Butch has called plays? I'm sure he has input and again, I have little problem with our offense.

On Helfrich stuff...

"He was at practice today. Apparently, Helfrich and his son was in town to see Marcus Mariota. They were planning on coming in to see him play tomorrow. Mariota had surgery today and Helfrich called Butch to see if he could come by practice.

The two know each other.

What does it mean staff wise? Nothing. Could Helfrich join the staff in some capacity? I wouldn't rule it out either as an assistant coach or even an intern guy like a Sarkisian did this past year at Alabama. Do I think that's likely? At this point, no. Was today an interview today? No."

I don't think he has for us, but I DO think at times he gives Debord plays that can or can't be called in certain games or at certain times. Essentially I think he has handcuffed him at times.

Nah. He just confirmed Helfrich as the next OC.

So multi-millionaire Mark Helfrich bought a Thursday (or earlier) flight to Nashville when the Titans play on Sunday, then decided to make the trip anyway despite Mariota not playing AND not even being in Nashville (since his surgery was in Charlotte yesterday). And then he just so happened to stop by the practice of a team with a rumored OC opening that he has also been linked to for several weeks.

I think even Saban does that. I know where you're going and he's gone too far, but all in all, I have no problem.

I know I'm a little behind, but....

WHEN Florida State gets worked by Michigan.

and

WHEN Tennessee beats the hot running crap out of Nebraska.

Does Cam Akers rethink his decision??

Hmm...

I like this post.

If Helfrich does get hired, it's kinda crazy to think that the coach of the team that handed the Vols their worst loss of the modern era and went to the playoffs would end up working under the guy that was on the opposite sidelines that day.

Somebody did his homework.

Saban for sure kept kiffin on a leash when it came to play calling.

My only problem with the offense has been that it seems obvious to me that they kept it throttled back in certain games and didn't let Dobbs play. I would guess that was Butch.

So my hope is that Butch learns and grows as a coach and actually turns the offense over to the OC and plays wide open all the time. And I think Debord would have tremendous value in an advisory/game planning role.

then why were other sources saying he was academically ineligible and basically out of school... that it was grades and had nothing to do with football... someone make up their mind.

Brice was saying his grades were fine this semester and Perry. He sounded pretty butthurt about Perry not sticking things out.
